I usually have two mages in my party anyway, so Merrill and the male mage are guaranteed a spot on the party unless Bethany is a permanent companion then Anders can stay stuck in Kirkwall :-)

For me it's:

I usually have two mages in my party anyway, so Merrill and the male mage are guaranteed a spot on the party unless it's Anders, in which case he can stay in Kirkwall or Bethany is a permanent companion.

I had enough of him in Awakening... he was just annoying.

Thankfully we'll now have Bethany, and Merrill for at least some part of the game.

I liked Merrill in the Dalish-Elf origin, though I wonder why she has Tevinter robes.... I can tell she'll be a great companion in DA2.

You can always go down the rivalry path with him and then side with the chantry and send him to the tower, mmm but that'd hurt Merrill as well , I hope there are points where we can kill non forced companions.

Marethari and Lanaya did, as well.  There weren't a lot of choices, mage clothing-wise.

It's interesting that Merrill is apparently a "pariah."  In the Dalish origin, she's the one who's a stickler for asking the keeper about Fenarel, etc.  She's gone rogue, apparently!

i think the robes are kool. tevinter mage robes always seemed druidy to me and it really suits the dalish as such. Though i must admit im glad the dalish keepers arent EXACTLY like the druids of DND. Sure theres some nature magic like plant control and healing but i really like the spirit summoning and how it applies in dragon age lore. Sylvans are used by both velanna and zathrian for example. And zathrian summoned a spirit of the forest and bound it to the great wolf witherfang. So awesome. If merrill is indeed a blood mage i hope she can summon a demon. That would be AWESOME!!!!

Also, anyone else notice elven artifacts are imbued with or have lightning effects? Im referring to spellweaver and the dalish battery ring to be precise. Also i like how the ring comes with the orlesian mage warden and that warden used lightning to destroy the mother. Neato!

her pictures somehow remind me of Tali



i am reluctant to consider her as a romance option for two reasons

A. she looks like she could be in her late teens and Hawke looks to be in his early thirties (maybe i can make him look younger) and B. i always thought her and the Dalish Warden (my first warden) were a thing during the origin mission and im sentimental like that
