Well. She's stacked.
And she does look a bit...I dunno. The other characters have a degree of realism. Her proportions and features are verging on caricature. Compared to Fenris, she doesn't look like the same type of elf.

13 years old? That's just ludicrous. At least 20. On the right picture she looks 35.
No the one of the right looks 20-25. What planet are you from? There's not a wrinkle on her and her face is in proportion for an adult. In the new design the size of her head next to her body screams young teenager.

Wow.. So much hostility towards an imaginary character.. I swear, some people are freakin weirdos..
We only saw one angle of her so far. I mean when I first saw Isabella I thought she was hideous, but now she's actually pretty attractive looking(still wont romance her but whatever). But maybe you should wait a little longer before calling her a deformed rat.
I mean she looks fine to me now, and if you don't like her later one thats fine as well. Not everyone likes the same things..
You know I should be squeeing over the fact of having a Dalish companion, being the Dalish nerd that I am. The thing is...I'm not
Though like you said; Not everyone likes the same things. I for myself like to see Dalish elves as the fierce and unrelenting warriors of the forest they were in Origins and not as doll-faced 12 years old laughing stocks. Thank you very much.

Those are DA2 elf ears. I hated that ear design in WarCraft, I hated it the moment they revealed their Thedosian races redesigns, I hate it still, I'll always hate it. Them being not quite as humungous as in WC doesn't change that.TJPags wrote...

ETA: In fact, I'm hoping that I'm not hoping too hard when I note that the fact that one of the "pre-done" background settings that can be chosen is a Dalish US ending might possibly mean that things can change depending on if the Dalish origin is the one that is imported. *hopeshopeshopeshopeshopes* As long as it's acknowledged and handled, I'll be very content with that!

You know I should be squeeing over the fact of having a Dalish companion, being the Dalish nerd that I am. The thing is...I'm notI blame that totally to that kind of design. She simply looks hideous to me. Period. If this is the new design for elves overall, then I'll have a hard time to take them seriously anymore...especially compared to how Dalish elves were portrayed in Origins. CUTE the last thing Dalish elves need to be. Seriously.
Aside the fact that I find that design as far away from cute as possible, of course.
Though like you said; Not everyone likes the same things. I for myself like to see Dalish elves as the fierce and unrelenting warriors of the forest they were in Origins and not as doll-faced 12 years old laughing stocks. Thank you very much.![]()
I can get and accept that you don't like her looks I honestly can.
But what does being a "doll faced 12 year old" (as you so eloquently put it) have to do with being a fierce warrior? To me this is no different than when a guy talks about how being a female warrior is a ridiculous concept. And we all know thats bull****.

She looks late teens early 20s to me. And I think there is a clear resemblance to her DAO version, more than Isabella in fact. She looks like the DAO version with her ears changed and her facial structure morphed.

I thought the presentation was fairly appropriate. I think the Dalish see themselves as fierce warriors and have an oral history that may or may not be accurate, but in the larger scheme of things--from the outside looking in--they're pretty insignificant and not all that frightening. They are allowed to live in lands that other people don't want. The glory has faded.
Loghain was scared of them. If this is what Loghain was scared of, I'm taking the signature down now. LOL
If you're referring to TST, that's because they were two lightly armed men deep in their territory. The deck was as heavily stacked against him as it could be (more than if he had been alone, even).
As for those saying not to judge on appearances, sure, although it's also a matter of everyone- including the writers- reacting to her character in the manner of ohhh I'm gonna put the little elfsy welfsy into my pocketses. Not to mention that the established lore of human men being attracted to elven females just got a whole lot creepier.
Clearly, I have not read enough anime to be able to appreciate the new direction for DA elves.

Yeah, Fenris has the larger ears but his facial features seem to be intact. Whereas Merrill looks...odd.

another game with a different aesthetic. Legend of Zelda comes to mind.
Maybe its that smile.
That was my initial reaction too- her design doesn't look like it would fit in with everything else they had done with DA. It just seems really out of place.

That sounds a little exciting, yet I am a little nervous because the voice actress from DA:Origins did a good job as well. But from the quote it sounds like the voice actress will be full of surprises
