DA elves are hobbits now?

I didn't care about Merrill's D cups since Gaider posted they weren't like that for reals. I just thought she looked like Marvin the Martian. Can't say I care for the new shots, either, but whatever, I'm just going to play the damn game and quit whining. Looks aren't everything.

Nah, Gaider said the artists had this issue with letting elves wear shoes.

Which I think is silly. One character is fine, but a race?

Why not? Hobbits in the Lord of the Rings series never wore shoes. There are still people on this planet who don't wear shoes - either because of thier poverty level or because they don't need to wear shoes.

Nothing wrong with that.

I think that was just to emphasize how gigantic and hairy their feet were. But Fenris and Merrill will be running around battlefields. I just don't see the harm in giving elves shoes, unless they're trying to emphasize the "one with the earth" huggy-happy thing. Which is...well, I've never really liked that about elves.

Their feat were "gigantic and hairy" because they didn't wear shoes, not in spite.

Elves aren't hobbits... Hobbits were pretty much interested in beer, gardeniing and taking a nap and nothing more... save maybe for ten of them in their whole history.
Elves have "adventure" all written all over their tatoos.:wizard:

I didn't say Elves were Hobbits, now did I? I was just comparing the fact that hobbits as a race did not wear shoes, like aparantly the elves in DA2.

To keep their feet warm? Kind of why our ancestors were a lot hairer then what we are today - they didn't exactly have the same protection from the elements that our clothes grants us today.

Yeah, no shoes is just kind of goofy and seems like a heavy handed way to go "Oh! Elves are happy nature loving tree huggers!" I bet Fenris and Merrill's gifts will be some granola and Phish albums....=]

Have fun yanking the rusty nails out of your feet, DA2 elves. Tetanus awaits!  Enjoy the hookworms that nestle in your feet as you stroll barefoot through the forest! Leliana would be ashamed at their lack of shoes.

I think the lack of shoes is kinda silly and lame, but that's one I can deal with pretty easy. The outfit itself is pretty dang cool.

Re: Bolded ---- Me too!!!

Well, I don't think the elves eat very much or are hyperthyroid; very thin race this time around it seems, so hobbits are probably not likely.  ;)

No shoes:  Probably something to do with their connectedness to the forest, or nature or some thing like that.   Merrill:  Pretty slender lass, she is.   Nice to see new shots!  :wizard:

Edited: for cough medicine induced  clarity issues  :)

Fenris has lyrium veins, he laughs at tetanus!

And Merrill... uh, well, it helps power her blood magic.  Posted Image

My little sarcastic question was to poke at the idea that DA is going more LOTR rather than less.  I thought it was, y'know, darker grittier sexier etc.  Hobbits in Thedas sort of goes against that grain.

Maybe shoes are symbolic of the oppressive shemlen!!!

And you equate "darker, grittier, sexier" with every race being the same and wearing shoes?

Awesome couple of screenies there. I wonder if fighting the templars is part of Merrill's personal quest, being a blood mage and elf must've brought the templars out quick smart.

Maybe shoes inhibit her ability to channel vines through the ground to use her Dalish teleport spell.

And lyrium hardens Fenris' skin to a stone-like consistency.

I equate it with not using concepts that belong in fairyland.

The LOTR series is as "fairlyland" as DA is, at least in my opinion.

I don't like the bare feet either. Maybe if it was just one character or just the Dalish but elves in general??? Just seems silly and I don't think it looks pretty :P

Tetanus and Hookworms don't impact elves, didn't you guys take elf biology classes in high school?

Seriousness: I'm a fan of unique looks on each race instead of having everybody be dressed the same, looking the same and stuff.

I really hate the barefoot thing. I'll get over it, but really? It just seems a bit silly.

What the heck spell is Merrill casting in the screenshot with the fire? Unless it's a basic attack, the only fire spells we get are fireball and firestorm based on the screenshot of the mage trees. Unless it's a Dalish Pariah spell (which I thought was blood magic, not flames).
