Merrill - She's a Keeper!

I can foresee a similar thing with Merrill, especially if her unique spec is some kind of Keeper/Bloodmage mix.............

Well, there is slapping dwarves with thick books and humourous one-liners. Can't rule the possibility out at this point.yukidama wrote...

So I was on the most recent page (that I knew of) and I wanted to lurk through all the new pages, see what's up. I'm on page 137, I scroll down and there is 151 pages and I was like "F***!" Then I go to page 151, I look at the amount of pages and there's already a 152nd page.
I hope Merrill isn't really a Blood Mage. She's too sweet
C'mon, it's not like she's Jowan!

I suspect Merrill turned to blood magic out of frustration over losing her friend, ie. the Dalish Warden. Whether he/she was recruited or simply died in the backstory, Merrill began studying blood magic out of a determination never to lose another friend when she could have prevented it.
But that's just a guess.

I don't really see why you must "fall victim", or that it's an evil thing.

It's not really evil, it's more... condescending. It's like letting the demons win, since blood mages are the most likely to consort with them.
She'd be giving up on own abilities as a mage. Blood magic is just an easier path to walk.

I still have absolutely no idea what I want for my major party set-up. I need a Spirit Healer, preferably one who doesn't require me wasting there points on it. Likely I'll use Merril for something. Fire will probably be the cleanser.

@SE JN Mr. Gaider was kind enough to let us know he specially requested the actress in question, and that request was granted. She is Welsh, as apparently they're trying Welsh accent for Elves (at least Dalish?). And I tihnk thats the coolest thing about it.
I think that piece of info should be added to the first post...Just saying...
Ever since I read this a while back it's got me thinking that if he had an actress in mind she must be 'known' or otherwise have been in some well known things, otherwise why would a Canadian writer know to request her from the off?
My first thoughts have leapt straight to Joanna Page or Eve Myles (Stacey from Gavin and Stacey and Gwen from Torchwood respectively), mostly because those shows have both been very popular and they are Welsh actresses. Of course they aren't the only potential Welsh actresses around, nor does DG's comment necessarily mean that the VA will be someone who has appeared in something 'big' but I still half expect it to be someone I'll recognise off the tele.

Doubt it's a very well known/popular actress because these tend to come with heavy bill attached, and spending huge piles of money on what's still secondary character... well.

Blood Magic became more of a pain to use near the end of the entire Origins DLC path and I was tempted to get rid of it via "Memoirs of the First Wardens." I decided against it because having four specializations is just plain nice compared to just having 3. Technically, 4/6 isn't as bad of a score as 3/6 is.
But should Merrill decide to go that route, who am I (as Hawke) to stop her? Maybe it might get extra powers to account for a majority of bloodless creatures as well.

If you're fighting for survival, which all Dalish clans are, then not using all the power you have available to you could seem wasteful and proud. Though we'll just have to wait and see what Merrill's story is to know why she took to it.Orian Tabris wrote...

Mmmmmm....
She's too of a major star to be cast in DA2 I would say... And I dont see really if she can do a Welsh accent (many people that were born in Wales dont know Welsh).
Edit: We've discussed Eve Myles a little bit, some 60 pages down the line...

If this is true, then she will be an awesome character nevetheless. I won't mind if she is a Blood Mage, since it would seem like a valid way for one such as herself, to be made to use blood in combat, as far as character/personality goes.
EDIT: Reading your last post Addai67, I realise I should have quoted you before writing this.

Bale is extremely intelligent and down to earth for being a "movie star", so i could happen...

The two actresses I mentioned will not be widely known in the States or Canada, I'm not sure they would fetch the typical 'heavy bill' you expect. They would certainly cost no more than Yvonne Stahovski would have for ME2, and Miranda was only a companion at the end of the day too. Even with Torchwood being a spin off of Doctor Who I can't see them fetching Eve Myles costing Bioware too much?
I named those actresses because while they are not big film stars that you can't imagine actually being hired, DG could well be a fan of those shows due to BBC America and other sources. There are a -lot- of actresses and VA's around from what I can tell, a lot of them just need to be discovered (at the casting sessions in the UK, or maybe they did VA work for a game already) or have only had small roles (say in Doctors or something heh), for DG to state that he had someone in mind from the start made me think they must be at least -partially- well known.
Plus I can just imagine her having Eve Myles' voice to be honest.
@Maria: Hah, well she certainly hasn't seemed to have much work lately, that I've noticed at leeast.
Edit: @Drizzt: Aha! I'm not alone at least, sorry I missed that not been following this thread that closely and been away from the boards.
