If these aren't well known then indeed i wouldn't expect the bill to be that big, since like i said i expect it to be big for well known people, instead.   That comment wasn't in reference to the specific names you mention, but rather to the first part of your post where you said it's likely someone widely known otherwise a Canadian writer couldn't be so well aware of them.

There is this thing the Dalish mages undertake called the Vallaslin, which is Elvish (if I spelt it correctly) for Blood Writing. It separates them from humans and city elves. It is done in complete silence and involves writing in the skin, somewhere on the body. If they scream in pain, they fail and are not considered ready to be an adult. I suspect that it has to do with blood magic, though Keeper spells have nothing to do with blood - only nature. Perhaps Marethari prepared this ritual for Merrill, and that she passed, and has thus become a Blood Mage, or whatever people think Merrill's specialisation is supposed to be (other than Pariah). She is supposed to have 2 right? Or is Pariah supposed to have something to do with blood magic? Anyway, if Vallaslin has anything to do with blood magic, then that must be how she becomes whatever it is.

If this is true, then she will be an awesome character nevetheless. I won't mind if she is a Blood Mage, since it would seem like a valid way for one such as herself, to be made to use blood in combat, as far as character/personality goes.

EDIT: Reading your last post Addai67, I realise I should have quoted you before writing this.

All Dalish take the vallaslin- that's how they get their tattoos- not only mages.  There may be extra stuff for keepers, but if she's a pariah for being a blood mage that rules that out.  Guess we'll have to see.

That is a little bit how i see blood mages to be. Also that is why I dont want Merrill to actually be one. Or anybody in my party really, but I will just have to hope that her cuteness will stay untarnished

Yeah no worries, think our wires got crossed due to some poor wording on my part. I mostly meant someone who is popular in a certain locality or for a cult show (etc.) without being a major star carrying a huge bill. The reference to someone from Canada not knowing who the actress is was more in regards to daytime TV British (or rather, Welsh) actresses and similar, some (still small) shows that get put out do make it across the pond afterall.

The long pointy fingers seem to be a part of the new design; Fenris has them too.

Fenris has clawed gauntlets that seem to extend past the tips of his fingers. I'm not seeing the creepy long finger thing.

Merrill sort of creeps me out too. She's too pale and sort of grey looking, like a ghoul. Also I just don't like big ears on elves; It just doesn't fit with their tiny bodies, and... oh well, I just don't like her looks.
