Makes a small difference. It fits with the mental model that I have about Merrill, that she is not bisexual.

If she turns out to be bisexual, it wouldn't bother me too much, but I like to have my mental models confirmed.

But then again...

That screencap doesn't show Sebastian either, so it's not indicative of whether or not someone will be in the game.

Sebastian is the guy to the left of Isabela. He looks like he's holding a bow.

Although I have no idea who the templar dude is.. so maybe this is not the companion screencap after all.

Heres to hopingPosted Image.

Isn't that Aveline though? Looks like that figure has breasts.

Aveline is on the far right.

I was talking about the figure on the far right with a bow and arrow. That's her, right?

Actually, she's holding a sword and shield. The sword is just on a funny angle. She's probably picturing something or someone in her head.

Ah... Sebastien is in the picture. Disconcerting...

There is a chance but considering you get that quest to take the amulet to the Dalish from Flemeth while Hawke is still in Lothering...so, maybe you head to Sundermount or wherever Marethari's clan is soon after after arriving in Kirkwall, whereas that scene seems to suggest something taking placing later on in the storyline...

A woman being bisexual would not bother me at all. I would not even consider it cheating if she would "have fun" with other women. I really don't get why I should be bothered of that. She can't become pregnant with her, and as long as she would desire "real thing" I would just say nice have fun and tell me how it was later.

But even though I don't understand why you care, I don't want nor try to change your opinion. Just curious why you care.

Edit: That supposed I would be in private relationship with the woman. Naturally of F/F women I could not care less because it just would not affect my life in any way as doesn't affect any other relationships people have.

Or perhaps that screencap is from the beginning of the game, when the character has gathered nearly all of the possible party members, and then Merrill gets kicked out of the clan just as the group is leaving the city...

But, I have a strong feeling that Merrill might end being someone like that guy from the human noble origin. You could have sex with him, and he is even a temporary companion, but he dies under Lord Howe's hand at the end of the human noble origin...

I have an established mental model of Merrill so far. Most likely, some parts of this model will be confirmed by the game, other parts will declare my model to be utterly wrong.

I don't know - I am somewhat conservative when it comes to this sort of thing - I believe some of the other posters who have agreed with my sentiments on this matter can probably tell you more.

I have some stereotypes about lesbians/bisexuals, and these stereotypes clash with my mental model about Merrill.

Doubt it. She's got a portrait in Cassandra's book*. She sticks around and is important enough to warrant that, at least.

*though it might not be her, I suppose.

You are right. She could weave in and out of the game as a companion - appearing in some parts of the game by Hawke's side, and doing other things in the meanwhile...

Still the fact that she's not a companion would dissapoint a lot of people.

They did that trick once. Why would they do it again?

Or maybe she suffers from a tragic death half-way through the game, after having been romanced?

It's possible.

Why not?

It occurs to me that it would make sense for some of your companions to die off during the course of the game, considering the violent nature of the conflicts they become a part of.

I know life is quite depressing.

But hey if it makes you feel better, it could be one of the other characters that gets canned instead.

Yeah, and when they did that... it didn't go over so well, people bring up that whole thing in threads on these and many other boards across the internet discussing DA 2...

They all talk about how some partial party member got 'mhairi's' out of the game...for whatever reason best made sense at the time...

Mhairi was a redshirt.

That's different from a character dying after building up a relationship with the character and watching them die for whatever significant (or poignantly insignificant) reason.

Ok, some personal thing then. You have the rights for it, naturally, as have people rights to dislike or prefer maker knows what in other people starting from accents and ending to political opinions. I don't begin to study it any more especially in this forum.

And for all the information we know about Merrill, she could be a "redshirt" as well.
