Wait, we get a dlc for a dog companion too?
If you buy the game new. You have to buy the dog in-game, however, from a merchant.

New game = Dog
SE = Sebastian Free
New Game = Need to purchase Sebastian... Unless I am wrong about that again...

The dog isn't a companion, he is a summons.
You call him into battle through the use of a whistle that you can buy in a shop in the Black Emporium.

Sounds like a mod for DAO that allows for our mabari to stick to our character as a subslot so that three other humanoid companions may accompany our Warden.
I hope we can interact with him.

Regardless of the new info or not I'm still more curious to know more about Merrill over the other companions. Mostly want to know what causes someone who could've been a keeper go towards blood magic and lose their position. While I don't think blood magic is bad it's just that as much as mages are liked in this universe blood mages are treated even worse. Besides, I already mostly know Anders from Awakenings so if does end up being the final companion it'll be nice but I'm not excited about him compared to other characters.
Not to get into a while discussion again about it, but you can use it to control others minds... that alone makes it bad. Of course there may be people who dont abuse blood magic powers.XX55XX wrote...

Somehow, I don't think Merrill was expelled from the clan for blood magic. Plus, we don't know what exactly forced her to leave her clan. Perhaps her Keeper has told her to accompany Hawke? Who knows.
I think she learned blood magic from reading ancient elven books or something.
What's so bad about blood magic, anyways?

It could also be about whatever side you end up taking on the elven rebellion plot line.XX55XX wrote...
Well, if there is a rivalry with Merrill, I daresay that it will be about Hawke asking her to limit the use of her powers (or saving her from the corruption of her own mind).
