I'd hope shortly we'd get official reveals for Merrill and Anders. Especially Merrill who has been pretty much confirmed for almost a month.

Thanks for the link InHarmsWay!!! OMFG! I always knew Anders would be the returning companion! Ever since seeing the Epilogue about him meeting a certain female pirate captain (or however it goes), I knew!


EDIT: I'd still like to see Merrill confirmed as a companion though. It troubles me how we don't know for sure if she's a proper companion or not.


What could be the reason for the lapse in companion reveals between Sebastian and Anders?

Yes we've gotten just as much reveal of Anders as we have Merrill.   When I say confirmed/official reveal I mean they're listed on the bioware page with their concept art

That's kinda how I'm looking at it and waiting to be shown and revealed...which I'm hoping happens this week.

Merrill has too... She's in the Dalish Elf's origin...towards the end of it...when you go back to the ruins with the eluvian mirror in it to find Duncan.

Oh, really? Still, there's an extremely high chance Anders will be a companion. They have him and Merrill counted as companions on the Dragon Age Wiki, nevertheless.

Yeah, but Anders had at least a dozen hours of screentime. Merrill had... twenty minutes tops, maybe?

But you only get to spend about 1 hours worth of time with her so... thats pretty much clean slate worthy, character development wise

So you missed the game informer link? The one that was titled "Exclusive Character Reveal: Anders" with pictures and video?

Do you see a character page for Merrill or Anders on the official DA2 website? Then they're not official yet. No one can "officially" reveal a character but the officials (Bioware.)


That said, he's about as confirmed as Merrill is so there's no way it could go any other way at this point; it's kind of a moot argument.

I'm getting a little nervous. Has Merrill been confirmed as being a companion yet or not? I'm starting to think that she could just be an NPC and be seen very little throughout the game.

There is nothing to worry about, all signs show that she will be a permanent party member.
1. There are a few screens of her fighting along side Hawk
2. She is written by Mary Kirby who wouldn't waste her time on a minor character
3. She is shown alongside all other party members in Varric's book he shows to Cassandra
4. She has a brand new class called dalish pariah. They wouldn't give a unimportant character a brand new spec.

So shes basically confirmed at this point and I have a feeling it won't be to much longer until it is official.

Merrill only appeared for a little of 3 seconds in Bioware's DA2 Developers video #3: The Story. Thats the ammount of "officialness" she's got.

I expect this Friday they release smthg taking advantage of the Dev chat Mike Laidlaw is gonna give. If its not then, on Tuesday 22nd, day of the demo release...

Later than that it wont matter, cause I'm planning to crawl to my cave after that and return to the forums after I finised the game a few times (sometime around May?)

Edit: And as a matter of fact, Im thinking maybe it would be more enjoyable to find this little things we all want to know about her in game, rather than reading a short announcement...

But she is there... in the game. Look at what I bolded out of what you wrote...this why I made that statement. She's there...small as roll as she plays... she is in the game. That's my point...

Don't forget Seb's bit on switching staffs with her throughout the game.

She didn't seem too awkward in the Dalish origin.  Although her screentime was short, and she was with her clan.  I could see her being awkward in a new place.  Maybe she has a confident exterior, but  a less confident/awkward interior.
