I do but I thought most of us here would think the same, if Elves in general have Welsh accents then a major character like Merrill will have a Welsh actor even if they used some Irish accents for some.

Can you point me to where was it said Elves in general have Welsh accents?
(I've managed to miss whatever post the devs stated this in, and have only seen it referenced by other people here)

Welsh and Irish accents are pretty different after all ;) that and as far as I am aware this was the first mention that the Dalish also had Irish accents.

The exact nature of accent the character is sporting seems about as fascinating as trying to guess whether the VA is originally from Belarus or Lithuania. i.e. not very. Admittedly though, i don't get the whole fascination with pegging different accents in the first place.

Oh my bad, I meant Dalish Elves have Welsh accents, not elves in general :P

Welsh accents are so sexy, I hope she has one. Her overall model looks fantastic and her height is perfect.

I don't mean to jump into the thread this far with this question, but has she even been confirmed in your party yet, or is she just in the story as a NPC? I was under the impression she was confirmed as a PC but then I went to the official page and see only a "sealed" slot remaining.

There has been no official reveal, but there's an overwhelming amount of evidence that she is indeed a companion. I suggest doing some further research before continuing with this line of questioning.

No, she hasn't been officially confirmed yet, but we have enough info and screens of her to know she is a permanent character. There is no denying it at this point otherwise we have 197 page thread on someone who isn't even a main companion. This topic would have been locked a long time ago if she wasn't important I would hope.

She's not been "revealed", by "revealed" I mean approved for the information to be released by Marketing.

She has however been confirmed as a companion, due to what was most likely a freudian slip by Seb.

Not to mention that in a trailer she appears in the same position of another companion in another trailer (Fenris if I'm correct)

Yeah, and I´ve also read a few articles in german that described her as a companion - in one the author even illustrated the banter between Hawke and his/her companions with her as an example.
He wrote that companions can only be spoken to in their respective homes, which happens to be a hut in the Kirkwall alienage in Merrills case.
There she tells him about her past, though he didn´t elaborate about that much more.
It also seems to be possible to get her quite early, because she was, aside from Bethany of course, the second comapnion after Varric he gathered.

Hadn´t thougt about google translate because I never use it
To be honest I thought everyone knew that Merrill is going to be a companion, a german game-magazine (i think it was gamestar, but I´m not completely sure) even released video footage with her as a party member a while ago, so I was sure it´s already official... I did wonder, though, why nobody bothered about adding her as a companion on the official site.

I'll try a quick and dirty translation of that paragraph:

"Lead designer Mike Laidlaw tells me that each potential follower has a home base they return to.  Basically a place where you can chat undisturbed about all kinds of things.

In the elven quarter of Kirkwall for instance, where I marvel at the towering walls with tattered curtains and weather-beaten statues, Merrill has a small shack.  Here you chat, just as Commander Shepard could do on the Normandy in Mass Effect.  In civilized fashion, quietly, without disruption or prying ears.  Here I get to know the elf woman with the sad expression a little better, learn about her past, her desires, fears and goals.  Why did she leave her clan?  Why did she willingly follow me?

Not every dialogue option will be open right away.  As in the predecessor, there is a disposition meter that runs between the two extremes Friend and Rival, showing how drawn the follower is to Hawke or else how repulsed, and of course including special missions that become available at certain levels..."

Yeah I guess we saw that vid, she also appeared on a Game Trailers interview with Mike Laidlaw, only for a couple of seconds though <_<

Merrill will be the last one to be announced. Then after her, the secret companion. :P

That way, it matches up with Origins.

Sad? why is she sad? :crying:

Also, she willingly followed Hawke, so that means she's not exiled after all.

I'm sure it's because she's cut off from her clan, alone in a big city.  Poor thing.  Yes it actually says "why did she follow me so willingly?"  But she could have followed him willingly if she felt she didn't have a place in the clan any longer, or that she was a danger to it or something.  So in a sense still be an outcast, even if she chose to leave.  That's basically what my Dalish Wardens felt like, since I didn't rp them as being dragged away.  They went with Duncan willingly but still felt like exiles.

Maybe she knows something the other Dalish don't, in one of the recent videos, Flemeth said "Do everything she says and any debt you owe me is payed", I'm guessing she meant Merrill here not Marethari.... that'd be an interesting plot twist, maybe Flemeth and Merrill are onto something....

[Spoilers]

Edit: She exactly says "Do as she asks with it and any debt between us is paid in full"... she is of course talking about the amulet here and I'm fairly certain by 'she' that she's referring to Merrill here, what warrants Merrill to leave her clan so urgently and go live in a shem city???

In my fanfiction story, my Dalish mage learned blood magic from Flemeth- I wonder if it could be a similar deal, that Merrill was apprenticed to someone besides Marethari.  *cue creepy music*
