The banter is OK. But even with the banter alone you can make variations... Not EVERY banter has to be a sketch from the Marx Brothers, MHO...
My personal feeling is that they made it really over the top in Awakenings. The banter in Origins was more character rooted, and less-trying-to-be-funny-all-the-time... but I maybe alone in this...


But I was originally referring mainly to relationships between the characters, throughout the game, not the banter dialog.

I suppose the characters don't need to be 'on' all the time, to be funny. That is why Sten is funny. He doesn't try to be but he is.

I agree, I liked Zeverans banter and humor, but Oghren just got annoying to me after a while.

It's tough not having your favorite make the cut (until the modders get busy!), but I would rather not have romance be the focus of every potential interaction.  Some people should just be not that into Hawke.  I'm guessing this means Varric is out, too.

Yea that is totally what happened. That is how Merrill learns blood magic and decides to become a follower of Hawk. Remember you heard it here first. But seriously though Flemeth needs to die.

I'll admit that I'm heading into creepy territory, but the latest chapter of "Fears Realized" (my parody of the trickle of pre-release info) features Merrill at the very end, in a cliffhanger. (You may need to glance at the other chapters for context, though. Even barebones plots have context.)

Well, i dunno about that.. i would say his chances dropped significantly when Anders was announced and they may fell even more with one today. I also tend to think that somehow it may or not work with him as the narrator of the story...as he would be the LI being held by Cassandra... meaning at some point I think the ending would have Hawke coming to save him( which I think may be the case anyway)...

Thats pretty shocking news about Aveline, she was a pretty obvious choice for LI, I can't imagine why she isn't one. She was never that appealing to me, but she obviously was to a lot of folks, and I was kind've hoping that her character would grow on me during the game so I'd be tempted to choose her at some point. It's just such a horrible decision not to make her an LI. Since she's not an LI I imagine she won't hardly ever make it into my team. This also suggests that we Lady Hawke players will need a mod to romance Merrill, since Aveline was the safest bet to be the 'male only' LI, which is also strange given how quickly and strongly the higher ups refuted earlier misinformation that Merrill was only 'in a relationship' with Male Wardens, one actually 'checked all the files 3 times' to make sure it wasn't true. Did they really do that for no reason? Boy, none of this makes any sense at all, its nothing but terrible, and shockingly dumb, news. I guess the only 'good news' here is what we already knew, Merrill is indeed an LI, she'd now have to be because there's nobody else left .



In answer to the previous question, I wouldn't bet against Varric being an LI, since he was actually the first 'confirmed' LI in the game (then it was retracted, presumably because they didnt want to confirm LIs that early). Granted if they're skimping on LIs as apparently they are, maybe they did ultimately change their minds and decided not to make him an LI after all. All we know is one of the 'obviously an LI' male characters will in fact not be one, to match Aveline's shocking exit from that category. Folks that actually care about male LIs are gonna be quite disappointed whenever that news comes out, and rightfully so since there's really no reason for any of them to not be one.



It seems like every time I get really excited about the game, they come out with shockingly awful news like this that just takes it all away again. I guess the good news is they've only got about a month left to be making these shockingly terrible announcements . And in the meantime at least we now know for 100% certain that Merrill will indeed be an LI, if they were going to shockly announce somebody wasn't really an LI after all who obviously should've been one, I'd much rather it be Aveline than Merrill, so that's good at least.

She is barefoot, she doesn't wear shoes, niether do the other Dalish is sounds like.

Assuming he hasn't completely moved to broodersville he might also have a completely logical attraction to Merrill. I might have to do the unthinkable. We really do need to find that out, but Mary might have to wait until an official announcement to be able to answer since that's treading on a slippery slope of confirmation she might not be allowed to give out yet.

You noticed how 'off' that is too?

If it were me... i would have saved a warrior for 'warrior' week, a rogue for 'rogue'week...and finished up with a mage( in this case , I think they are in Merrill) for 'mage' week.

When your, character is a cold-hearted b*****d it shouldn't bother you that much. In RL I doubt I'd do that at all, but in a game, playing an evil character, I would. Certainly.
