Oh please.  Carver certainly got dumped on enough in the forums, so has Varric.  Just try starting a discussion on Varric as LI (which I personally hope is a possibility).  Women posters might not be as crude as the guys talking about hentai or 17 but more sexual or whatever, but if a character looks derpy or ugly there is discussion about it.

hm, short black kind of boyish hair style, i am wondering if her haircut is similar to that of fiona's? probably not and just the preset hair that was picked...



as a completely unrelated side note, i think it was very cute for mr. gaider to defend mary and sheryl. very pappa bear like. a mini squee is appropiate for this.

That is correct -- the elves are now super-slender -- though I would suggest getting a better look at her body (and her height) before making extrapolations. Really?  Why?!  As it was, in Origins their limbs look like they came straight out of a concentration camp.  And not a work camp even, where they might have had some normal muscle tone.

God, I hope there's a toolset.

I'm assuming their trying to make the torso match the limbs?

Meh . . .thin, bad fitting clothes, goat ears . . . the new elf.

I was kind of hoping on limbs that fit the torso.    Or rather, limbs that looked like they could actually lift... anything.

I think she's recognizeable-- but I also recall Merrill having very little to say in the Dalish origin. She was focused on your mission and expressed curiosity about the elven ruins, but not much beyond that. In fact, I'd say she was more or less a blank slate. As for what she is in DA2 and why, you'll see that soon enough I'm sure.

She did have a lot to say about the ruins I thought though. I may be remembering wrong. I took her as being more of a scholarly type. Oh well

I did too! I replayed the Dalish origin just to get a sense of what she was like and she came across as quite serious and stern. She was very interested in the Dalish ruins, despite my Warden being all, "We must find Tamlen!!!" I mainly thought  it was because she's the Keeper's apprentice and all. I'm guessing like Isabella, she'll be getting a new VA? I remember her voice from Origins and I can't quite picture her voice with her new image.

Sexist? Hardly. I thought the "staring at FemHawke's butt" speak that appeared whenever ago was also incredibly unprofessional. I am not biased against women who want to be feminine, but we are talking the difference between upbeat and something else entirely. I really could care less how they act in their workplace or with friends, I just happened to think that the image they were sending to the outside world was a poor one. It encourages the sort of fanaticism that even the devs eventually had to decry (such as the romance craze, Talimancy, etc.) Appearances are everything with people who you do not know. Maybe that is just the yuppie in me. 

I am sorry my opinions are unrestrained when it comes to the internet. I am not representing my place of work or anyone else, not even myself as I am in the real world. Therefore, there are no restrictions attached to them. 

Mary Sheryl...the rest of the writing team.  You guys are awesome and I love interacting with you.  That is all.

You understand there's probably like a 70-30 male/female disparity here.  And I am being generous.  Bringing sexism into the mix for fictional characters is ludicrous.

Misogyny. . .maybe.

I can buy that.  It's just that the idea of "omg she's so cute" doesn't really seem to fit with the more serious nature I, at least, got out of Merrill in the origin.  She came off even as being a bit bossy older sister, and I could certainly see bossy sister being fun when things weren't so dire.  As long as "cuuuute" is a part of her personality and not the whole of it, I won't be so worried!

Aye, the slenderness is the main thing i take from this glimpse, maybe with some cues to how the faces got tweaked when comparing with the DAO character.

I actually feel mildly positive about this new appearance -- it certainly is different, but since that's very much what from what i read the goal was... well, it works. Just takes a while to get adjusted to. Though now really wishing we get the DA2 Toolset eventually, since i'm really curious what my warden would wind up looking like with the new morphs as base and well, with this new body type.

I wonder if any of the characters will change their appearance over time. That is a good point that I hadn't thought of before.
