Im sure this has been mentioned but given that she is a love interest is anyone else a bit apprehensive. She looks soooooo young, I'd feel like I was sleeping with a child. Here's hoping that given the 10 year span of the game she looks older towards the end

Well Merrill has been studying magic for years, has been the first for years. I mean... this spells it out that she's not twelve. XD She's at least mid 20's+

Besides, am I the only person who looked at Merrill and DIDNT see a 12 year old? :D

She doesn't look like a 12 year old in any way to me. Although maybe I'm just used to how anime depicts little girls...?
If anything she's a petite 18-20 year old. I much much much prefer petite girls though. I didn't have any interest in Leliana or Morrigan in DA:O. Isabela is a bit too mature for my tastes; and while Aveline is awesome, I wouldn't want to romance her.

I'm still suprised how many people think Merrill is 12 though... guess it's the assumptions off that one screenshot we have of her face. I really want more info on her.... :pinched:

Also on the issue of this whole Mhairi thing... I'm pretty sure they wouldn't do that with Merrill, she seems to have had far too much work put into her (Concept art, writing, ect) to have her just killed off. Besides, she has a unique look it seems. Mhairi on the otherhand looked pretty generic and more of a place holder than anything I believe. Which is what your brother and sister actually are in the intro of the game.

She is 100% party member now if you watch live gameplay demo from yeserday at end of gameplay it shows party selection and she is there.

I dont know... as far as we know there are only 6 party members which is ideal. Any less and things get a little messy.

The chances are slim to none...and her having a lack of screenshots is just pure laziness of the people who made and run the website...that's all.

Ever notice how all the things some fans want but don't get is because of rampant and pure laziness?  I swear video game writers, graphic artists, animators, programmers, marketing people, owners are the laziest bunch I've ever seen.

I have... LOL! I know you can't please everyone...but that doesn't take away from the fact that should be some sort of IN-GAME shot of Merrill, especially considering everyone else in the party has screenies...with the exception of the siblings of course...who also lack their own personal specs for some( most likely story-based) reason...

I'd say the whole 'hear the voice' thing is overrated, given my experience last night. After waiting all that time to finally hear Lady Hawke's voice, what did we get? We got a voice that was....well, a voice. It wasn't great, it wasn't bad, it was fine, but nothing much to speak of either positively or negatively. Obviously there are some folks who love it and a few who don't like it, but certainly there wasn't much of it so you can't really judge just based on that anyway, that's the point. It doesn't really matter how it sounds when you hear a little bit, you have to hear it while playing the game, and you have to wait and see how it sounds after you've heard it for a while. In the case of Lady Hawke's voice, it clearly could either grow on you, or grow to annoy you. I'm obviously hoping for the former :) . But thats true of most voices, likely it'll be true of Merrill's also. So while if we get a clip of her voice I'll be among the first ones there, unless its just super great it probably won't really tell us whether we'll still like it after we've had her in the party for a few hours. Thats something that can only come with experience. So having said all that....please let us hear Merrill's voice ASAP :) .

Overrated? I love and hate characters based on their VAs, and I'm sure many of the fans here do the same, I never knew that there was a game called DA:O, but when I bought it blind because it's a Bioware game and first played it I hated Morrigan on sight, you know why? her VA, now that I'm following DA2's development closely I can say from what I've heard so far I like all the VAs except Aveline's, and I want the chance to hear Merrill's VA as well, if not to judge it then at least for the sole purpose of knowing who she is.

I"d agree VAs can make a difference on liking or hating a characters for different people.   For me though I liked Morrigan's character more because of the voice.   And even the same VA doing different characters can make a difference.  I don't like Jennifer Hale as much doing FemShep but I loved her for Bastila in KoTOR

Here is to hoping they picked a good VA for Merrill

It sounds as if we don't know Merrill's yet, which is great, because knowing who does a voice for a character, can sometimes make it hard to get a face out of your head. I like the idea of looking at Merrill's face as she's speaking, and see her voice, as her's and her's alone.

I agree whole-heartedly with your last sentence.

To me Merill looks like a very young woman. I didn't see any child traits in her. Probably someone see that for the change of elves design.

I hope so, Ubisoft did it with AC2, mainly just Ezio but it was done beautifully.

And I'd have loved it if every companion had multiple fixed outfits that matched their personality, but as it stands it seems some will get multiple outfits and others won't, I hated it in ME2 and will likely hate in DA2 as well... but an upside to it is less fiddling with the inventory trying to find a matching boots for my companions.
