No, she just sees a statue or something that has a demon bound to it. Probably like that Tevinter statue in the mage origin.Filament wrote...
So are both of our mage companions abominations then?

And I'm very curious to see how exactly she gets her pretty little elven arse kicked out of the clan.

This was great. I don't know if it's the reason for her leaving her clan, but I think it's pretty clear she is tempted by the knowledge the demon promises. It's probably the same demon she summons when you're traveling with her. And I think the name of the demon might suggest more about Merrill's personality, how she is daring and willing to take risks.

"I look to the Keeper, who is peering silently at some sort of archway with a disapproving frown that I know all too well. Poor archway. It didn’t do anything."
"I trail after her, giving the archway a reassuring pat as I pass."
"“Who calls us?” The Keeper demands, drawing herself up. She looks the way I imagine the elves of Arlathan did, regal and wise, and the timbre of her voice says, I don’t care if you are a spirit, I will thrash you if you give me a reason. She scolded a wild sylvan with that voice once, and it stumbled off looking ashamed of itself. Well, as ashamed as a tree can look, anyway."
"Keeper Marethari seems to grow taller, becoming a towering pillar of angry Dalishness."
Is this the way Merrill talks and acts in the game? Is she really this funny and having this funny coments in the game? Because it's like reading something from "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and I really love it. This could make Merrill a favorite in DA2, easy.
If a Dev comes and say "Yes, this is how Merrill is in the game" I will scream in joy!!!

Okay, her narration gained her some points. I like the way she thinks. Spunkier than a Tali or a Liara, that's for sure.

Probably because she associates with this demon. Also probably where she learns her blood magic. Cool little story though.

I don't see why they would make her act out of character in a first-person narration that is supposed to tell us more about her character.

However, everything else that has changed about the elves is such an improvement, particularly the overall silhouette, that my forgiveness is given. <3

I got a very Joss Whedon-esque vibe off of Merrill's backstory, particularly in her silly little references. Once again, I really think her voice actress will be an Amy Acker or an Allyson Hannigan or even a Jewel Staite. Maybe not those actresses specifically, but the same kind of feel.

Na'vi were pretty much elves anyway. They just had a dash of furry as well.TGFKAMAdmaX wrote...

*Man Squee* Screw accent authenticity, I'd love if Merrill was played by Jewel Staite.

Whenever I think of Merrill all I hear is Snake's gravely voice...even though it was spelled different and it's been what seems like a lifetime since I've actually heard it.
And thanks to that reminder, I read these forums with Metal Gear Awesome voices.... It has made things a lot more positive around this place.
