Whenever I think of Merrill all I hear is Snake's gravely voice...even though it was spelled different and it's been what seems like a lifetime since I've actually heard it.

Meryl... Merrill... Meryl!

I was replaying MGS4 recently and was reminded of this as well.

Is it just me or did Bioware take a page from the Japanese?

Something about the colors/models/characters reminds me of JRPGs.

I think it's actually part of why I love this character so much...there is a strange sense of nostalgia/comfort in her name and her appearance seems to fit perfectly too...plus I've always had a thing for elves!

Oh I get it now, the whole story-through-time twist in the making of trailer.

She looks like a child at that time in the game(past), fast forward during the adventure(future) she's an adult.

Very interesting story. She probably unleashes the demon trying to gain knowledge of the older elves. It probably teaches her blood magic, or some ancient elven magic. Eventually it might betray her and maybe causes some horrific change to the forest endangering her clan.

Yes that is precisely what I think will happen. I really hope it does i'd be interesting.

Poor Merrill. I was young. I couldn't press circle fast enough. I didn't have a turbo controller. I couldn't save you.

Roll a pen over the controller, makes it a thousand times easier.

Anyone else think the statue in Merrill's story was Eleni Zinovia?

One thing I like about the new elf design (and this isn't a knock against them) is how they're bodies are now more analogous to their darkspawn counterparts, Shrieks. The arms are longer, the legs are shorter...now it just seems more logical for Shrieks to have come from elves. In DA:O, elf-->shriek made no sense. It would have been more logical for it to have been elf--->slightly shorter hurlock.

I dunno, I'm guessing we will see when we meet her in Sundermount...and head to the mountain top for the ritual...

Yeah its all kind of making sense now on what would happen to make her leave her clan. IE badguy statue and the ritual to free him most likely.

From the pic with her and Hawke, I don't thinks she looks any different from any previous screenshots.

She simply just looks anxious, and the red eye thing could be swelling from crying. Notice the blushed cheeks as well? There's alot of emotion in this scene. In my opinion, she looks great. They day they announced her, I knew I would romance her. Looks like it's shaping up to be more than the typical hot elf chick romance. Hopefully,

Eleni Zinovia was not a demon.  At worst a lying spirit.

Eleni Zinovia was a person turned to stone right? This is a deamon of audacity traped in a statue.

Unless it's Eleni pretending to be a deamon, which would be pretty audacius. :P

Not sure where you see that. The body/limb proportions of "new" elves are pretty much the same like those of humans, the bodies are simply thinner. That means if anything the arms of the redesigned elves are actually shorter than they were (because the DAO elves have arms comparable with humans, meaning they're disproportionally large for their somewhat shorter bodies)

In the fourth screenshot down on the first page. Looks like she's fighting Templars or something. That's mostly where I see it.

I think Audacity is its name, and it's actually a pride demon.

I'd say both the position and camera angle makes things there difficult to judge -- there's lots of perspective shortcuts going and whatnot. There's a full body picture of Merrill standing straight somewhere on the most recent pages of this thread (it's not included in the first post) and that one is probably better for this.
