I don't object to blood magic, in fact we had a lot of conversations about it early in the thread, but in order to possess blood magic you'd have to have incredible will and self control in order to resist the temptation to abuse it, if the all the dalish keepers do indeed know blood magic then they're doing a good job using it, otherwise every blood mage in Thedas seems like a criminal to me.

I'm not sure I recall anything saying for sure that Jowan used Blood Magic to poison the Arl.   I was more under the impression he was given something to poison the Arl with.    

Regardless, I don't think blood magic is inherently evil but it would seem you leave yourself potentially more open to become an abomination.    I'm curious as to how it plays out with Merrill

After Anders's story, I highly doubt Bioware will made another companion abomination.
About her magic, I think that it's a probably elven blood magic, with a mix of nature magic.

I would say that in the rivalry option they could go for a "I despise you, but you turn me on, I lust for your body" type of thing, *LOL* while with the friendly option a more "appropriate" and conventional "romance" type of thing....

Besides, there probably is a possible bad ending for Merrill, with that said I'd presume there's a good one too. I just depends on if you actually try to help her or not.

Going back to blood magic, is it even confirmed she is a blood mage? I mean I've heard references that she uses nature magic and that she uses blood magic in the ritual. This use of blood magic during that ritual and the after effects is probably why she either leaves or is exiled.

I think all we know is that shes has a special ability called Dalish Pariah. I dont think its been confirmed that she is a blood mage. Though I could be wrong.

What kind of endings are you talking about exactly? The epilogue?

That's quite reasonable since that screenshot appeared as part of batch which included Merrill as part of the group, but no sign of Anders who wasn't revealed until later.

Heh IGN article talking about Merrills voice makes me want to hear it even more "Those who played as a Dalish Elf (warrior or rogue) in Origins will remember Merrill as the apprentice of the Clan's keeper. She was a tad ****y in Origins, but now she's much more timid. Her silvery voice and vast eyes are reminiscent of Harry Potter's Luna Lovegood."
