There's a lot of this in the writer pit:

Merrill (in-game): (something unbelievably cute)

This isn't meant to be a slight or anything, but how does one who acts like this on the internet get taken seriously as a writer? I have not heard so many instances of "squee" and "nom" from women on the 'net since I was early teens. When someone basically says that they behave in a manner similar to a teenager in real life, my faith in their ability to actually write a good story or character diminishes greatly. I really wish the writing team would exhibit Obsidian's level of professionalism in this case, as it reflects better on a title that I -want- to like as I have enjoyed the developers' past work.

I really hope this is not indicative of a shift in the quality of BioWare's future games. 

I am sorry. I know this has been addressed before, but I cannot just keep calm and carry on and say nothing. I know some people are lead to believe that very rigid behaviour masks are needed to have a satisfactory professional performance, but I dare to disagree. Sheryl Chee has already proven to everyone how much she's worth as a writer and I doubt her work was done keeping a grumpy face and a hollier-then-thou office attitude. That's the same type of attitude that prevents people with tatoos getting jobs. She's a videogame writer, not a bank accountant. Self-confidence leads both to excellence and freedom. She showed great joy in her work and I doubt much people can claim the same. Besides, whoever is offended by watching a woman squee, is like being offended by watching a cat purring. The information she pulled through in such an adorably expressive way was very relevant to this thread, in my opinion, specially coming from a BioWare writer, and in no way deserving of bashing.

Please, Sheryl, do not stop making such adorable and spontaneous comments. Merrill looks adorable indeed and we can't wait to hear more from her.

This.  One of my favorite things that helps bring me back to this forum is how the Dev team interacts with the fanbase and how good of a balance they have at being able to be themselves and make jokes with being professional.  I would never want any of the Devs here to change in the way they post.  For nostalgia's sake, I'll go ahead and point out how I remember Chris Priestly from the old Mass Effect Forums simply because I always enjoyed how evil he was and put a under every one of his posts.  Anyway, I just hope the Devs know that a lot of us appreciate them interacting with us at this forum, and that they don't change the way they post simply because of one self-righteous user(Though I doubt that's the case anyway.  I like to post my feelings.)

Anyway, on track of the Merrill thread.  I'd definitely say I like how different elves look from humans now.  It makes them look more unique.  As far as how she looks relative age, I don't think it's a big deal.  She looks at least 17-ish to me, and she easily has that look where different people can try to categorize her age based on how she looks and come to different conclusions.  Sort of like how some people have to constantly show their ID to show they're over 18 even if they're 20-24

Well, then that was just very poor choices on Bioware's part, if true. 

And yes, I still say yes, because every comment we've gotten about this has been qualified with "I assume" or "I think" or "if I recall" or the like.

And she doesn't look 12, you're right.  I'd say 14.  Maybe 15.

i like the new elf designs. everyone hated origins elves looking so human like and now that they look different ppl arent happy? what the?

i cant wait for her trailer to come out. id love to see her giggle then do some big kick butt spell that makes us go whoa.

So, a casual gamer who wandered in here to find out about the game is supposed to know that those two "squeeing" and talking like teenagers is normal for them? You don't think it might turn away someone who doesn't follow every developer religiously, in perhaps the same way that Evil Chris suggested excessive romance threads would be detrimental to sales?

Please temper the generalizations, such as "everyone hated origins elves looking so human like".

Many people had no problem with it, myself included.  The goat ears are not a step up, IMO.

Cute but deadly.

The Slow Loris is kinda cute in a big eyed way, and yet is deadly. So are swans for that matter. You can't judge by appearance I guess.... Part of me wants her to be sweet and the other part of me wants her to threaten to eat my face if I disagree with her.... *lightbulb* Well, she was always kind of snarky. :-/
