oh wow i didnt know merrill was part of the dalish origin quest. All I remember is that blonde elf-dude who kept calling people "Shemlins" and tried to convince me to shoot them.

Yes, you'll see her once you start searching for that blonde elf-dude who kept calling people "Shemlins" and tried to convice you to shoot them. Tamlen. 

She looks very 'default' in Dragon Age: Origins though.

Heh, I never thought about that. I will have to avoid this thread, and the forums in general for a while to avoid spoilers. But considering that I will be playing DA2 nonstop once its released, I probably wont be gone long.

Yeah, which is why I'm happy they didn't take her "shallow" introduction in Origins into account, her new personality is much better IMO.

From the GI preview it seems thar Merrill decides to leave the clan and follows Hawke in Kirkwall.

Yep, she's not exiled after all... I hope that decision has serious outcomes and reasons in-game, her story arc seems to be interesting.

I agree. Especially because in her announcement it is stated that she wants to save her clan. Whatever the cost. Probably she needs Hawke for find or doing something to save her clan.

I agree. I hope to have the possibility to disappoint the hold hag again (since I'm quite sure we can't kill her).

Yeah, I'm pretty sure Bioware won't give us the chance to kill her, kinda kills the whole very old powerful "creature" vibe they're trying to sell if you can kill her in both games.

Well for all we know she might be some kind of uber boss. I definetly like Flemeth more in II than I did in Origins, she seems so much more unknowable and powerful now.

Though this amulet intrigues me, and I just realized something. What if Flemeth is trying to use this amulet to control someone? Get a replacement for Morrigan? Maybe she wants Merrill?

I guess not, I used to believe this as well but now I'm not so sure, I think the ritual (apart from how it affects Hawke) gives her some kind of warning or knowledge that forces her to act on alone.

It might effect her in a way where she knows her clan wont believe any of the threat so she goes with Hawke in hope to stop it.
