I'm probably a harsh, crude, emotionally inept kindda guy...but if someone were to tell me, hey you know what, I dont wanna be friends because you look like a little kid, I would probably be like "lulz ok w/e, idc?" instead of feeling assaulted at the very core of my manhood and insulted.
Also, Sexist = the belief that one's sex is superior than the other. I see no connection betwen that, and what has been said so far.

Not evil villain camp, but you do come across as a jerk.
By criticizing the appearance of someone who isn't a real person?

No, but that does make you a jerk. And if you are going to tear down a character based on their looks and sexuality alone, where that character is female, then yes. Yes that would be sexist. Because you are establishing they are less of a character because they are too promiscuous / too viriginal / look ****ty / look too young. Its one thing to say 'Doesn't appeal to me' and nother entirely to list out trite insults.
Regardless, this has gone off subject long enough. And I'm surprised a Dev hasn't come in here with a warning. Seems to happen every day in all the Female and romance threads lately.

Ehh, she looks odd to me, but I'm not sure if that's just the awkard screenshots or the body type. We'll see. Character animations might sell it. I wasn't a fan of FFXI's elves, either. The ones with the long proportions.

Allow me to respond one more time then and we can call it a day if you wish so. Being a sexist means I consider the female gender, AS A WHOLE, inferior to my epic manliness. However, telling a girl that she looks like a a kid, is a opinion based on her alone. She just happens to be a girl. So lets try to take the words as they are instead of stretching them out.
Second, I am a jerk to someone who is impacted by my comments or opinions in a negative way. Merril is a video-game character, and thus almost everyhing you can say about her is considered an oppinion, not an insult to women or whatever...If I say your kitchen table is ugly, im not being a jerk towards the table right?
Again, let people voice their opinion. It's their own right and one which you also have, as long as it can be kept civilized. Not that I'm personally offended by any flame wars but I like to think we're all gonna enjoy the same game.

SMH! Seems to me that people have their own definitions of what sexist, fact and opinion means. Not the actual textbook definition either. But hey, who needs actual factual correct English definitions anymore right?!
Not everybody uses "correct" definitions, quite a lot of people use words in context that aren't correct by definition but make sense in the conversation. Not saying that it works in this specific argument, I haven't followed this argument, but... a lot of people don't really care about " correct English definitions", it varies on the type of english (there's more than one) and the context in which it's used.

You people know that if you keep this pointless argument the thread will most likely get close? please stop it. I wanna see more Merrill screen shots >.<
Or they'll receive a warning from the Devs. They already asked the subject be dropped. I've complied.
I wish they'd post a small vid of her. I'd love to hear what voice they matched with her appearance. I imagine she'll sound very cheeky.

Oh gosh.. Elvaan....
The only thing I don't like about Merrill is her tattoos... something about them is very distracting for me. I just don't like the pattern I guess. Otherwise I think she is adorable, but probably not in the same sense as like... a kitten.
Sadly we just have very little information about her; even Anders got a little 50 second clip released.
I do really like her outfit though... I am curious what that original concept outfit looked like that was mentioned a while ago.
I demand more Merrill! ...please? :innocent:

More so since it seems all involved with bioware who have heard and seen her also seem to really enjoy her.

Cool. Kirby's characters have some of the best senses of humor, in my opinion.
