Merril is a Yaoi fangirl. I though that much was obvious. Still, it's actually one of those lovely cheesy romance novels featuring Varric that have been popping up in the Varric thread, staring here.

The first time i realized that she looks tom-boyish, unconfident and shy - is the first time i thought of her as cute/adorable. Reading her LI short story and seeing those pics just makes me believe even more she is : shy, naive, a tomboy, never been kissed (maybe not really looking for romance either).

Seem like her relation ship with Hawke might be big brother -yougner sister if only friendly .

I actually think she might be a bit of a hopeless romantic. And I think she might fancy male Hawke.

It's just a way to power spells. You don't have to be a murderer or power hungry. What is mana but life force in a different form, that can be boosted artificially (and also with health effects) by lyrium?

You missed the most important part....

It's not that it's powerfull, but it's tempting...and not all power is equally tempting.

I can see that a pro-Chantry Hawke might try to make that case to Merrill (or start a "rivalry" over the issue) but I can see an apostate Hawke thinking otherwise, and making the same case that Addai67 is making (and even an argument that Duncan makes when discussing how Grey Wardens have resorted to blood magic to fight the darkspawn). I'm interested to see how an apostate Hawke and Merrill will react to one another, considering how both of them are mages who are hunted by the Chantry, and the history with the loss of the Dales and the broken promise to Parlathan.

Great temptation IS a corrupting influence. And as I said before - nothing tempts more than mind control.

If Hawke is also a blood mage, and if Merrill also practices blood magic, I don't think it'd make them evil or easily corrupted. If Merrill is skilled enough to become the First over all the other canidates (as Lanaya describes when she discusses how she became First), I think Merrill's capable of handling the power responsibly (as was the Warden-Commander of DA:O).
