Could make for some interesting story points.

Sadly by now Merill is the team member, we know and have seen the least about, apart from the DLC companion that is.

Blood magic is sourced from the mage's own blood right? Well other magic is sourced from the fade. It's the same thing. If anything, blood magic is a danger to whomever uses it. Magic itself is dangerous, hence non-mages being afraid of mages, and hence mages being comfortable with it. I can (now) sympathise with and understand why, the Dalish use it: it's just magic. Blood mages - with the exception of evil mages, like Uldred, and the Dalish  - are just mages who were too weak willed to stick to normal magic, that they feel they need to resort to the darker side.

Blood magic is taught from demons, whereas other types of magic - except for ancient magic, such as shapechanging, which we don't know have much information on - is taught by the spirits of the fade.

As far as I can tell, magic works in the same way the brain works. They learn to use magic, when their brain tells them to use it. So I think it's just got to do with their mentality.

That's my opinion.

None of you have any idea what blood magic actually is and yet a rather large majority of you claim that it is an evil thing that should not be learned, and flat out deny that the character knows it.

We know exactly what blood magic is. Its magic that uses the power of ones blood and can be used as mind control, curses, demon summoning, and can even be used to boil another's blood. It is not a very nice form of magic.

I've noticed that that many people seem to think demon summoning is a blood magic.  It's a common misconception.  But I've never seen someone make the mistake of thinking curses are blood magic, since that is explicity part of the entropy school.

Yeah, demon summoning is just conjuring demons from the fade. It's not blood magic, because demons don't become one with them, or become part of the blood mage's blood. The former is called an abomination. The latter is just idiotic - not that anyone was saying that, but that's basically what it would mean to summon demons using blood magic.

Once again Merrill was in the party selection and she wasn't chosen for the public play through. I'm starting to wonder if they're saving her for last or something because she's such a good character. XD

It might be that she is also reallty spoiler heavy.

You were doing pretty well until this part.  You
identified that it came from dragons, but then claimed it comes from
demons.  Blood Magic, like Reaver, was misidentified as demonic even
though they both come from dragons.

Aside from the method for PCs
learning Blood Magic in DAO, it has no connection to demons.  The most
common method of learning it is being taught by other Blood Mages.  Most
non-harrowed mages would become abominations with demonic contact, not
blood mages.

I know I'm probably triple posting, but I'm pretty sure all non-blood forms of magic were taught by the Old Gods, or spirits of the fade.

Hmmm, maybe the Old Gods taught the spirits of the Fade, magic. Still speculating, maybe the spirits gave the Old Gods - which we know are dragons - the ability to breathe different types of primal magic?

Both the playthroughs he's also been a mage so he's acted as party mage in effect. 

Though I mean I'd at least like a character video or something.

And where in the credits did it say Merrill's VO? I watched them for a while, but nothing came up on any of the voice actors, so I gave up.

It takes a while (about 4 songs...the second time the first song starts playing again) but she's listed under 'Cast' and then under Merrill

They do really seem to be avoiding Anders and Merrill. I mean both were in party selection, both are clearly in the interests of some fans, but he always chooses Varric Aveline and Carver. So there may very well be some kind of spoiler deal or perhaps they're just saving them.

I agree that it's likely for spoiler reasons that we've seen so little of them. If Kirkwall is templar central for the Free Marches, their presence could be deeply tied to the mage/templar storyline as two illegal mages in a region dominated by the military arm of the Chantry is going to cause problems (although I'm assuming with Anders since he doesn't seem to be with the Wardens at this point, but Merrill seems far more likely as a Dalish mage). I doubt the templars are going to be happy with two apostates walking around the city-state, and it's likely going to be a big part of the storyline.

Yes "kick" is a word, like the kick in Inception would forcibly throw you off balance and back to reality. That's something like the kick I got from the concept art, but with more cornrows, creepy creepy cornrows.

I'd still like her though, cause I'm all for scary demon ladies! Her outfit is a lot more revealing, mostly the same... just, seems like they decided to add a chain mail thingy under that one for her final design.

You know guys, I don't care if they picked her or not... because unlike Isabela or Fenris, she's actually a forced companion... in the demo, after you reach Kirkwall and check your Journal, you'll see that the quest to deliver the amulet to the dalish is under the "Main Plot" section, and according to the codex these are the quests you must do... Isabela's quest "Fools rush in" is under Secondary quests, and we all know how Flemeth's quest ends... so no worries

I don't think so. We got Varric, Aveline, Carver, Beth and Isabella in the demo and Fenris at least got his big entrance in the gamespot hands on and Anders got a short vid from IGN, but Merill doesn't even has screenshots on the official DA2 page.

That's a little much to speculate, I'm mostly speculating on how her outfit might change through the course of the game.
