I know and that wouldn't make her a blood mage.

I'm thinking Merrill's leaving her clan is going to be a "holy crap, that was awesome, I'm stickin' with you guys!"
"Damn right, we kicked those demons' arses! Can I go adventuring with you? I don't want to be Keeper anymore, I want to see this Kirkwall place you always talk about! Do you humans really have doors in your houses? I've never seen a real door! How does an inn work? ...could you explain to me what a brothel is?"
Caffeinated Merrill sounds like a lot of fun.

I might have to use that line at trivia night at the bar tonight.
Also, she and my Lady Hawke are gonna be the bestest friends ever.

Now I'm imagining Merrill prancin' around Kirkwall, stoned and/or drunk, while wearing Hawke's smoking jacket.

She was taught something that resembles blood magic, probably not even knowing that it may be bad or have dire consequences. So I wouldn't call her a blood mage, at least not in the sense like Jorwin was a blood mage, who know, what he was doing. But we have to play the game, to exactly know, what is going on with Merill and her background.
Edit: Since Isabella seems to be more like the "evil" LI, Merill could be the "good" LI like Leliana was in DA:O. At least if Bioware still works with this categories.

It makes no sense to assume some infernal property just because of the race of the user.

I think they played very fast and loose with LI categories this time around, for males and females alike. In DAO, while having loads of depth (personally, I always thought Morrigan was far more innocent than Leliana) the LIs could be inserted into good/evil categories.
But this time around... the ladies are both overlapping and wildly differing in terms of morality / worldview.
As for the males, after watching Fenris in action I'm starting to think he might turn out to be the "sweet" option (as sweet as a stoic runaway test subject can be) whereas Anders will be loaded with angst and tragedy.
There, I wrote a thread about it back in the day, when we were almost completely in the dark in regard to companions. And I kind of nailed most of the predictions. /shamelessplug

Yeah I wouldn't exactly call Isabella evil, maybe more risque but not evil.

Sorry if this has been covered, but there's no way I can read every page of this thread... is there any indication of Merrill's view on humans? I ask because Dalish elves tend to be pretty antagonistic. Has this been revealed yet?
Hmm no, not really that I remember.
I have a feeling that she wont though, since from what little information we have she seems to join Hawke of her own accord. She might be still, I guess. As long as she isn't crazy or b*tchy, I dont mind. Growing up being told humans are evil, she'll probably hold some resentment.

As long as it's not as bad as Velana, I'd be ok with it... and I guess if there's a romance option, that must mean she won't outright hate them and talk trash most of the game.
Yes, this is what I assume too. If she's a romance option, I can't imagine her having very much hatred towards humans. Especially not near the level of crazy that was Velana.

That's why the thread has dispatched agents to scour the interwebplaces for the latest in tiny bits of Merrill updates and fanarts. Then We send them to make posts for other people with obviously incorrect wording and grammar.
But, I agree. It seems Merrill is hidden under the veil of marketing.

There's been a pretty utter lack of info aside from her character reveal and the one valentines day screenshot. So I am a tad dissapointed. I'm sure the Anders people feel kind of the same way. They're not even sure what he sounds like now too. Seeing as he's got a different VA now.
