I don't think everyone hated elves in Origins. We certainly thought they looked too much like humans with pointy ears, however, which is a big reason for the change. For those who liked elves in Origins just fine, I think a bit of adjustment is perfectly understandable-- and maybe some allowance that some of them will never like it at all. C'est la vie.

Like Velanna had primal and entropy (funny she has fire and grey delisle also voiced avatars Azula firebending prodidgy) which was pretty kool.

in the mag where it mentioned she would be a companion and her spec had bonds with blood magic, it said marethari sends her with hawke to kirkwall.

I actually thought about that as well. Merrill seems to have an interest in the dalish (or ancient in general) history, so we may get quite a bit of insight about the dalish from her, more than just because she's dalish.

Yep pretty much. A lot of the game is undergoing visual re-design, and for the better frankly.

It's one thing to tweak, or to make new areas that have a different color palette.  We never saw those areas, so it's cool.  I even give thumbs up to the Qunari, since it works that we just didn't see any with horns.  But I saw lots of Dalish elves.  I played some of them.  None of them resembled Marvin here, who apparently got dipped in a vat of lyrium and grew appendages while shrinking bodily.

Alright I'm having a bit of fun obviously. I imagined my female elf as a tribal, lithe, blonde, badass blade-wielding sort, not what I see in Merrill. But she is cute.

Frankly ladies(?), I hope not. I understand why you would want more F/F options but I don't want the DA world to become one where ludicrously all NPC companions fit this trope http://tvtropes.org/...in/EveryoneIsBi

I really like the new look. I disliked how the DAO elves looked so much like humans. I changed every single elf in the game to give them features to distinguish them from humans (this was after creating my Warden avatar and being disappointed in his likeness to the shems).



Merrill does not look 12 or 15 at all. She looks young 20's perhaps even late 20's or early 30's if she aged gracefully. The old Merrill looked well into her late 30's. I am very happy with the change.



It looks like she is standing on the slant of a hill looking up at Hawke; so, she is likely a bit taller than she appears.



She is pale, slender, has a graceful neck with elf ears (as opposed to slightly pointy human ears) - much like descriptions in the books of elves - Thank you, thank you, thank you! Love the attire as well. She also still looks enough like the original. Great job, Bioware team!
