The fact that the FemHawke/Merrill romance pics come from ImageShack should be a clear and strong indication of their dubious credibility.
They were uploaded there by someone on the forum because the original package contains some other pictures with spoilers about certain characters.
give me the link to the original package, then. If you can.
I'll see if I can dig it up...ah yes, here: hos.samods.org/screens.rar . Spoiler warning though, there are 2 screens with spoilers included.

The two "spoilers" look real enough. Of the four with Merrill, only one looks real. It's entirely possible that the uploader mixed in some fake pics. Also, "hos.samods.org" is a MOD website. The FH/Merrill romance pics ARE FAKE.

Have any of the devs confirmed whether or not these pics are real or fake?
Nope, and they are extremely quick to shut down all false "spoilers" as soon as they pop up. These screens have been out there for quite some time now. Not to say that they can't be fake, but it makes one wonder.

How is all bisexual romances insulting? Unrealistic, yes, but how insulting?MasterScribe wrote...
Do any of you honestly believe that at least 4 of Hawke's companions (all the romanceable ones) will just happen to be bisexual? It's insulting to think that a Hawke of either gender will be able to f*** every romanceable companion in sight. Let's be realistic. The player will be able to romance other NPCs (kind of like Iona in the Human Noble origin). I don't think that BioWare is getting rid of hetero-exclusive romances any time soon. Stop wishing for it.

All four companions being romancable by both genders does not mean they are all bisexual. Here, let me have Gaider explain it:MasterScribe wrote...

"There's absolutely nothing wrong with making all romances accessible to any gender. It just requires a different approach, from a writing standpoint-- you could have a situation where the sexuality of the character is subjective (meaning if you're romancing them and they're the same gender, then they're either gay or at least gay-curious, but otherwise they're straight) or they simply don't discuss it or discuss their past relationships-- meaning it's a romance with the player and sexual identity isn't part of the equation. It could also be that all the romances are bisexual to everyone... but that'd be my least favorite option."

And yes, there are flat parts on the models, such as the arm and sides of the breasts. These are because characters are made up of tris, polygonal flat surfaces divided in half to form triangles. If those images are from an earlier build, it's likely there were instances where the higher poly images did not swap out the lower poly ones during camera movement or if a limb moves in a way that is unusual. The high-detail cage around the limb may not be following the flex points around the shoulder joint or clavicle. This would create the kind of sharp edges you see on Merrill's arm/shoulder while it is wrapped around Lady Hawke in that awkward angle.
Anyway, I believe there is a very high chance these are the real deal. There's always the chance they're faked, but I doubt it. If so, a lot of quality work went into punking the Dragon Age s/s romance fans.

Merill and isabela- straight if male, lesbian if female.
Fenris and anders-gay if male, straight if female.

Why don't you post this reply to everyone that thinks the romanceable companions ARE in fact bisexual (and not just "curious")? Where'd you get this from, anyway?

Yeah usually the devs squash rumors quite fast. Look back when everyone heard about the demo people claimed it was fake and then look what happened.
They seem pretty determined to keep mum on the whole subject though. Basically they told us who we could romance and since then there has been little to no further comment on the devs' part about ANYTHING to do with romance.
