Do any of you honestly believe that at least 4 of Hawke's companions (all the romanceable ones) will just happen to be bisexual? It's insulting to think that a Hawke of either gender will be able to f*** every romanceable companion in sight. Let's be realistic. The player will be able to romance other NPCs (kind of like Iona in the Human Noble origin). I don't think that BioWare is getting rid of hetero-exclusive romances any time soon. Stop wishing for it.

How is all bisexual romances insulting? Unrealistic, yes, but how insulting?

Why do I imagine that there is going to be an uproar over this?

The fact that the FemHawke/Merrill romance pics come from ImageShack should be a clear and strong indication of their dubious credibility.

They were uploaded there by someone on the forum because the original package contains some other pictures with spoilers about certain characters.

give me the link to the original package, then. If you can.

I'll see if I can dig it up...ah yes, here: hos.samods.org/screens.rar . Spoiler warning though, there are 2 screens with spoilers included.

Is there any other way to show this without the link? I'm not able to download it.

Having every character bisexual would be insulting because it would be blatant pandering. It would mean that bioware doesn't really care about making the character, just about making them attractive enough to the maximum number of people.

Frankly, I find it kind of silly that bioware has no gay characters, just bi ones.

That said, it won't change my gameplay experience at all, so I don't care. However, it cheapens the company in my eyes.

for now, i just hope people dont start coming out with lady HAwke/Merill fan fics right away from these pics.

also bi romance is a  lazy way of saying:

Merill and isabela- straight if male, lesbian if female.

Fenris and anders-gay if male, straight if female.

Your gender affects your companions' sexual orientation? that's odd.

Got to second this, although Bioware has said in the past they are against making all characters BI so it's unlikely Merrill and Anders are actually gay.

The screens are in this thread (the Merrill ones at least), just go back a few pages. The spoiler pics are in this thread: social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/141/index/6266554 (heavy SPOILERs in this thread, so click at your own risk).

It's only odd from this meta perspective that we're in. Merrill lacks this reflexive awareness. For all she knows, she's always been lesbian.

what i am saying is even if it is stated they are bi, if you are bi and wjith a member of your own gender, that is how it would appear, since you cant play as both gender's of hawke at once.

They never said that. Read this quote by Gaider:
"There's absolutely nothing wrong with making all romances accessible to any gender. It just requires a different approach, from a writing standpoint-- you could have a situation where the sexuality of the character is subjective (meaning if you're romancing them and they're the same gender, then they're either gay or at least gay-curious, but otherwise they're straight) or they simply don't discuss it or discuss their past relationships-- meaning it's a romance with the player and sexual identity isn't part of the equation. It could also be that all the romances are bisexual to everyone... but that'd be my least favorite option.

Would we do this? I'm not really going to say one way or the other-- but if we did I think it's safe to assume we wouldn't set out to implement it in the worst way possible."

you can explain it any way you like--it's pandering to me

from a writer's perspective, a character should exist apart from the player's interaction with them

srry, was stating a point about bi merill there as well if you didn't notice, merill going for fem!hawke= gay merill and merill going for male!hawke= straight merill

but like it is said, BW most likely wont make all LI open to all genders, so it is as safe to assume that she is straight as it is to assume she is bi

If we can explain in any way we'd like and you'll stick with your initial opinion, there is no use in arguing over it, is there? In fact, two people exchanging their standpoints without the intention of actually changing their views is not a discussion but two separate monologues that happen to occur in sequence.

Anyway, shall we get back to appreciating Merrill in this thread?

Yes, because as we all know, sexuality is the be-all and the end-all of characterisation.
I mean, all other defining features are rendered moot in the light of their innate attraction to both sexes.
How perfectly ghastly a possibility this is.

On-topic, hi thread!
Merrill is adorable. And I'm quite looking forward to acquainting myself with her, be it as a prospective romance or not.

You're entitled to make whatever predictions you'd like, but you're wrong. Every scrap of info we have points to all the LIs being open to the player regardless of PC gender. BioWare has gotten rid of hetero-exclusive romances for DAII. Stop wishing they haven't.

Yeah, it could be because it's an older version of the game or it could just be some good old Dragon Age animation jank.

If that's a real image I hope they either fixed it or they switch camera angles pretty much immediately.  All I can think about is getting her a sling and some Excedrin.
