Simply put, male and female Hawkes have different stories written about them. Therefore, the characters are themselves slightly different in each. Hawke isn't changing something predefined, but is simply a participant in a story that differs from that of the other Hawke.

Wait guys, I'm getting skeptical now. Take a good look at the pictures, I actually think they are not real. Why does Merrill's arm looks so strange in the pictures? Because it's supposed to be around the male Hawke's neck instead of the female, so that's why it looks so off? Also when they are lying in bed, it should actually be around the male's chest/shoulder and not be like shown here? .... I think I'll just cry now.

I agree. It doesn't look right. It may well be modded.

Edit: Although I suppose it's possible that the scene's animations are the same regardless of the player's sex, and Merrill's animation's don't change to compensate for FemHawke's reduced body mass.

It would be even better if Bioware saw this thread and the everyone-is-bi thread, then did that scene on purpose then leaked the images. Then when people play the game, realise Merrill is not bi.

Then it dawns on you: Bioware trolled everyone.

It would be awesome/terrible.
