So, not photoshopped.

But in terms of modding. How would it be possible? Just changing gender flags? Would it be that simple? The way their mouths meet in the kiss picture suggests that animation between Merrill and fHawke exists (if it was meant to be mHawke then their mouths wouldn't match up, right?). Could anything have been done with the limited tools to date to alter the animation so their mouths lined up like that?

Can anyone with the demo actually access this scene (or the equivalent one with mHawke)?

I get the impression that either a) as is apparantly the case with Anders, there's seperate kiss animations, or B) the MaleHawke kiss is rather awkward and by coincidence when modded into a LadyHawke, it seems to fit perfectly.

And I don't think you can get it in the demo - as has been said, Merrill's character model isn't in it. If you try to use her, she's invisible.

lets stop talking about their authenticity until then, ok?

Thread nanny? <_<

Yeah, you don't get to tell people what they can or can't discuss in the thread, leave that to the mods.

I'm not sure Sam would agree.  We all know what was really going on during those cold, Mordor nights beneath the elven cloak.   Creepy.  Hobbit.  Action.

No, that would be MASSIVE trolling!

I said it when I first saw the shots and I will say it again...those shot are real...and you know what as male who LOVES to play female characters in DA( since his males are always straight)....this makes me very happy to have a choice of female LI's as well as the males( though it would be only Fenris in that case)...

Hadn't read that about Merrill being unavailable in the demo. Thanks.

The plot thickens.

That's exactly what has us all pondering, because the possibilities are limited, it seems impossible to do.
I think it's safe to say that FemHawke is not put in the screen by simply photoshopping her in there; her positioning in every screen, distance/size and lightening among others is too accurate for it to be photoshopped. The only thing left would be to somehow change the genders by changing things in the files/scrips, yes? Like you can do with ME2. Or the pictures are real and are like they are so they look both good enough with male and female Hawke. Something along those lines.

Neither Merrill or Fenris is available apparently...

I think it is because Merrill is the last character to be shaped into form.
At least she was the last character to appear on biowares character page.

Anders have been a work in progress since at least awakening, i remember reading a early interview where a dev said that they had been planning on the second game since Origins' release. My guess is that they developed Anders (and nathaniel?) for Dragon Age: 2 but decided to give them apperances in Awakening too.
Therefor awakening is a glitchland of mess.

Just my theory.

So do you stick mostly to female characters?

I will probably do a few runs with each. First romance will be Merrill with malehawke, then maybe Anders with femhawke.

Another point - if LadyHawke was running animations designed just for MaleHawke, there'd probably be more weirdness and clipping due to the height difference between Male and Female Hawkes.

I'm reminded of FemShep using MaleShep's animations to lean on a rail in ME2, and ending up with her elbow hovering above it :/

As Anders and Nathaniel were likely in their minds while working on Awakening - and therefore DA2 as well - this wouldn't surprise me. e.g. Nathaniel has already spent time in the Free Marches.

I think the best/worst evidence of re-used wireframes for male and female was the awkward FemShep sitting while wearing a dress scene in from Mass Effect 2.

Heh, indeed. That's why they starting using more gender-specific animations in Lair of the Shadow Broker. She sits with her legs together in that, while MaleShep sits with them apart.

While I could be completely wrong, if LadyHawke was using MaleHawke animations, I'd expect her to be looking less well-placed in the pics with Merrill. Of course it could just be that MaleHawke's animations aren't perfect, and it's happy coincidence that LadyHawke "fits" better.

Imma give you a very minor SPOILER Posted Image

*A character named nathaniel is in the centre of a quest.
If it's the same Nathaniel, i know not.*

sorry for this, SPOIL END Posted Image

I hope to see more convincing arguments towards the realness of merrill/lady Posted Image

Also I'd just like to say that all the character threads in the DA2 forum seem to have great atmospheres. Makes a pleasant change from the usual behaviour I see in the Mass Effect ones :)

I have mostly been sticking with the forums on Gamespot, you can't present a idea without it being ripped to pieces and eaten by a mabari Posted Image

I also quite surprised that someone could actually talk from experience when looking at those pictres, i have no idea how photoshop or in-game toolsets work Posted Image

Heh, well I do a lot of artwork in photoshop, so it's kinda just something I've picked up over time.

As it happens, I have a pic in the works that involves Merrill.

No, I play mostly male characters...I'm just not against using female characters...as I tend to be able to actually roleplay them...whereas the males, I tend to roleplay them based on my own personality or perception of the sitauation as if I were actually there...

Like for instance in origins...in all of the origins BUT the dwarf noble(male)... I put bhelen on the throne because orzammar comes out better for it. As a dwarf noble male... I made up my mind from the getgo to kill him no matter what...since I knew the entire situation from that point of view. Where as when I played a female cousland... I wnet through the game...romancing the crap outa alistar...but teased zev n leliana...til Alistar called me on it...but as a male cousland...eventhough Alistar was my brother in arms...I always shafted him outa the throne...so, i could take the thone with anora( I did this in everyone of my 9 or so male human noble playthroughs).

Ah, Im the same. I have a hard time playing male characters differently from one another whereas with a female character, no 2 runs are ever the same for the most part.

Indeed, the atmosphere is nice because everyone is acting friendly, takes each other seriously and respects each other's opinion (all of that most of the time), as it should be. I know about gamespot, a lot of people there have the 'I 'm better and you're a noob' kind of attitude, which I dislike the most. Also one of the reasons why I don't linger much on their forum.

But let us get back to the investigation. :police:

As you know, it's essentially the same picture :P

Drawing it as one pic, the chopping it in half afterwards.

I more of just believe they might be real because if it was just a mod from the demo, we'd be seeing more then just pictures of Merrill getting it on. Which tells me not that many people have access to do a mod.

Yes...I believe that to be the only alternative.   However, afaik there's nothing available to do this with...no toolset and no save game editors exist.
