I think there's an excellenct chance she will be the next Tali (only even better!). I've felt there was a real similiarity between her and Tali for a long time, and as time goes by more and more things seem to suggest it. Of course we do have to actually play the game first, see her in action and all, but just based on what we know so far, there's every reason to believe she will be the best character in the game, and possibly the best character in Bioware history. Optimistic, but definitely possible .

She definitely tends to get nervous and babble/ramble to cope with that. In the stream there was a conversation that went like

Hawke (Red fist option) "You almost hit me back there, watch where you're aiming your spells."
Merrill: "Oh I know, I'm sorry. I didn't know what to do. I'll be more careful. I'll try not to hit anyone next time. Well except for the enemies. I have a little bit of combat experience, but it was only ever by myself... not that I'm TRYING to hit you or anything- ...and I'm babbling again. Sorry."

That's not an accurate transcript... but it kind of captures the gist of the moment and it's just stuck in my mind because it was cute as hell.

I also love the fierce determination in her, a dedication to and love of her clan that drives her to find a way to save it, even if she has to leave her clan and go with Hawke to figure out how. (Another thing, coincidentally she has a bit in common with Tali.)

Since this is the Merrill thread, I should say that I am braced for the possibility that:
1. We fall in love and live happily ever after.
2. We fall in love, but I lose her to demonic possession.
3. We fall in love, but I am killed and she goes into berzerk grieving blood mage vengeance mode.

This is partly because I keep wondering if Merrill is in any way inspired by Willow from Buffy the Vampire Slayer ^^;.

You might not be looking at it from the right mindset. Don't think of them as traditional elves or compare them to humans. Think of them like they're aliens.

They're not particularly ugly, but they are VERY different. They appear... well, not part of the human race nearly as closely as before. Their general facial structures really do remind me of the Na'vi from the Avatar film, with the eyes set the way they are and the strong nose bridges.

It's like calling Garrus or Thane ugly whilst comparing them just to human characters.


I mean, it's true you can still find them ugly even from a subjective standpoint, but I'm just saying don't judge purely from a bias of direct to human comparison.

Indeed, it was totally worth sitting through his awful playing (if you can even call it that) just to hear her voice. I am more eager for my LadyHawke x Merrill then ever before.

I don't believe Flemeth was translating when she said "an old hag..." but giving yet another, seperate, name.

Truly? Doesn't Arienne translate it to "A old hag who talks too much" in Witch Hunt dlc?

That's what i remember it form, i can't remember Flemeth translating it herself.

But then again i only played witch hunt once.
