Where'd he even get the nickname from? Just out of no where he started calling her that.Northern Sun wrote...
I love Varric's nickname for Merrill, "Daisy".
There was one banter between them when he asks if the Dalish prance/frolic/skip (forgot which one) in the daisies. I think he got it from there.
Gotta love Varric's ability to come up with good nicknames.

How do I romance Merrill? My Hawke has flirted with her a few times.option with her once so far, but I've a high friendship with her, apparently, it starts to actually pick up pace in part 2&3 of the story.
side note: Am I the only one who loves the way Merrill pronounces "brothel"? She adds like a W and L into it.
It takes a bit more time to romance her than Isabella who pretty quickly will jump into bed with you but most good things are worth waiting for.
It's right up there with all us Tali romance fans. It's very genuine and passionate. Excellent writing by the BW staff.

I've only gotten one scene so far where the romance is acknowledged(the scene from the 'modded' screenshots) the romance does go farther than that right, felt kinda rushed and sudden. Though from looking at the achievements, it seems there's still more as the scene I got only triggers the "Flirtatious" achievement and not the "Romantic" one.Yakko77 wrote...

Heck the best Shepard can do is say "I care about you".

Funny thing is I think this is the first time I have heard a Bioware MC say "I love you" to the LI.

It's the first time I can recall hearing it, but it's not the first time it's happened as an available dialogue option - happened before in their earlier, silent PC games. I know my Bhaalspawn could tell Jaheira, "I love you" in Throne of Bhaal, and I'm pretty sure Revan could say it to Bastila near the end of KOTOR.
On another note, I freaking love Merrill. She's a hoot and her romance scene filled me with warm fuzzies. I especially like whenever she gets flustered from flirting or trying to explain her feelings, she blurts out, "Is it warm in here?" Fantastic voice acting and writing.

Aveline is disappointed with Varric for not coming up for a nickname for her.
Daisy is appropriate methinks for Merrill.

Yes, the Merrill romace is pretty sweet. The way she blurts out "I LOVE YOU! Oh, I propably shouldn't have said that, should I? I always say the stupidest things. (and then, very playfully) Uh-oh." made me grin from ear to ear.
Haha. Yeah, I think everyone loves Merrill for her innocence.

Ha, it was the same thing for me. I couldn't help but smile when she did that. Actually, just about every awkward, cute/adorable line she says makes me smile.

The "I LOVE YOU" line made me cringe. Thought it was delivered quite poorly.
The little "uh-oh" at the end made up for that, though.

Except Aveline. Unless I haven't gotten that far yet.
