Has anyone else noticed that Merrill's personality is basically identical to Tali's?
Even though I ain't into Tali at all, I have heard some dialogue. And when it comes to talking, Merrill and Tali have much in common (both are pretty nervous and stuff).
I kind of fear people hating her on the aspect that she shares some paralells with Tali.

No, I haven't for one. I find nothing in common between them (expect them both being "nervous" and "shy" and all)robtheguru wrote...

I hated Tali in ME2, she was very annoying to me.

Personally, I find Tali to be depressingly bland, while Merrill is marvelously written as well as heart-wrenchingly adorable.
...I suspect the accents have something to do with it. Tali's eastern european one... yeah, I'll pass. Merrill on the other hand, while the pitch of her voice is a little inconsistent at times, is Eve Myles! *swoons*

so my question is this: if everything is locked out and Merrill is not in the estate -is it a glitch or something or "vaporising" her was BW plan all along?

well here's some question that i would like to ask: while choosing Merrill as love interest late in the game [last straw main plot quest] she is in Hawke's estate. and after killing knight-commander Meredith when i load the post campaign save Merrill is gone from Hawke's house all travel places except Black Emporium are locked out as they should i think but i get quest arow over writing desk and "no quests at this time"
so my question is this: if everything is locked out and Merrill is not in the estate -is it a glitch or something or "vaporising" her was BW plan all along?
Well the story is over basically. So everything resumes kind of a default position.
Really it's not a continuation of anything, just a gameplay thing.

edit: does glitch of lack of triggering friend or foe Merrill quest affects some dialogue or its nothing just Gallows kiss at the end?

Though she does confuse and annoy me when I'm doing her loyalty mission in Mass Effect 2.
Anyway, I don't know Tali all that well. But from what I've seen, there are a few things they have in common: being nervous and stuttering a lot. Rambling included.
I don't deny there aren't any differences. Others have pointed this out already, so no need to repeat them. Unless you want me to use some Copypasta...

Well it'll recognize the story no doubt I think. It saves any choices you make after all.
When I say defaulting I just mean it goes into a kind of gameplay mode when you finish the main story since there's no more dialog or anything.

I wish act 3 had a little more romance content. Although I like how in the end, Varric says that the only person who stayed with Hawke was the person you romanced. (Being Merrill for me of course) Good thing too, seeing as she really doesnt have anywhere to go after what happened with her clan.
Yeah.
This is why I can't see me romancing anyone else in the game really. It's like out of everyone Merrill is the one person with no where to go no matter what. I mean even if her clan lives they want nothing to do with her. So at least in my own cannon I find her being with Hawke to be pretty appropriate.
And yeah I do agree with you. I was hoping there'd be more romance content in Act III. Oh well I guess.

Yeah I suppose you're right. Seems like every character no matter what gets some level of hate.
My theory is that quite often, the internet brings out that part of some people that can't stand when someone else likes something that they don't like, and it turns their lack of liking into outright venomous hate. And in other people, it just brings out that juvenile part of them that likes to take a crap on whatever someone else likes.

Yeah as one of the writers said, in DAO Merrill was essentially a blank slate. The people who act like they really got to know her in Origins kind of make me laugh because really all we got was that she was the Keepers first and interested in history.
