How did you get full Templar armor?Systemlord Baal wrote...
Okay, so I forced myself to build up rivalry with Merrill and made+uploaded a video of the rivalmance. There are also the two scenes leading up to it.
Rivalmance
I find it strange that in the rivalmance Hawke says 'I love you'....but not when you have full friendship - then it's about scandalysing the neighbours. What do you think?
And Hawke does say "I love you" in the frendship romance. Does she destroy the mirror in a frendship romance?

hm...then I did something "wrong" (too many sarcastic options chosen throughout the game perhaps?), because he didn't say it in my case (click on the Merrill banner in my sig)Somebody wrote...

I don't know exactly when, but I got the Templar armour as a reward for aiding the Templars numerous times.

Are you blind? No one told you to choose the flirt options in the first place, the heart icon didn't give away that you were going to involve yourself in romantic stuff? Besides you can reject her when she bursts into your house saying all those things with the "broken" heart icon, if it gets THAT hard to understand. Honestly, I thought this system of icons was for people who don't understand what they're choosing... Well I'm not to insult but really the icon gives it away of what the action is
I'm sorry for not being clear. What I meant was I played the game with no intention of romancing Merrill, or anyone, I only built up everyone as a Friend, I never once selected the heart icon. However I must of said something during the adventure, or perhaps its a bug, but at some point Merrill came bursting into Hawke Mansion and was pretty much declaring her love.
In the end I decided it was so sweet/nice/unexpected that I went with it and went along with the romance option.
So what I meant by accident was simply I had no plans too try to romance her but in the end it happened anyway,

She gets really pissed off at Hawke, then just apologizes later. I am curious if any of the other scenes are different if rivaled.MasterSamson88 wrote...
huh, maybe the rivalmance isn't as bad a I thought. She wasn't beating herself up like she was in the other vid I saw.

I'm not at the final choice yet, but I've chosen the "Templar option" every time I got the chance in that pt and at some point I got the armour which is called "Knight-Templar Regalia" btw.Somebody wrote...

i've gotta say-seeing Merrill furious was well...it felt bad.... i'm sooo glad i was so careful to make Merrill happy even if it yielded some "disruption" [like neighbours letters for Hawke. to sum up shortly: my Hawke is happy only while Miss Hawke [Merrill

Rival romance all the way. I don't want her still being with that mirror. The romance also feels more real.
Why do you feel that way exactly?

Could be a dev issue. Merrill is one of the few characters where it's better to be a rival since while you are her friend you worry for her and want to stop her from this dangerous path.MasterSamson88 wrote...
Yeah the rivalmance was very well done I think. The only thing that confuses me is her class indicator. Like when you're full rival it describes her as an outcast or something, but if you romance her it's clearly not the case.

I my self prefer rival Merrill my self. It's just more interesting and when Merrill calls Hawke a Shemlin and kicks her out of her house, I just sat there staring at my tv. It was a well written scene and I could tell that she was very upset, also the make up scene at Hawkes mansion was well done too.
It was shocking, yes....we were such good friends!!!!
I think the whole rival path brings out another side of Merrill, which is good if you want to delve deeper into her character, even if it's bad for Hawke

Well, it's just that "I" (as in my thought on everything while playing) thought that by helping her I was going to get her killed. And I didn't want any harm to come to her. And I felt like that's what was going to happen if I gave her the item she wanted. So I refused, but kept telling her I was doing it because I want to help her, and I didn't believe she knew what she was doing. I thought she was playing with fire. And she hated me for it, and kicked me out of the house. I even gave her a gift to show that I'm sorry I hurt her feelings, but she still wanted to be left alone. And then she comes by the house, says she's sorry, and I'm telling her I'm not going to give up on her. It felt honest and real. To me anyways. If you thought she would successed, then I guess you'd disagree.
Plus I love drama. I think it adds more to a romance if you see all sides of a character, and love them still. Not just the nice and friendly parts.
