I have recently started my second playthrough, originally with the intention of romancing Isabela, but as soon as I recruited Merrill I knew I was going to end up romancing her for the second time. This happened in Origins with Leliana repeatedly, I'd end up feeling guilty the times I romanced Morrigan. I really need to get a life, but lets face it: Merrill is fantastic.
I'm exactly the same lol.
Just recruited Merrill and she's already asking to do the horizontal dance.

I'll probably have the same problem... trying to do an Isabella romance now.
At least I don't have to worry about romancing Fenris and Anders. Especially Anders... has the audacity to be rude to the adorable elf to go and do something far worse than she ever could have.

Sad how at odds those two characters are, especially when they should be on the same side.
Edited for grammar lol

Yeah, if you bring Merrill she makes a big deal about it as well. (Why the hell would he say that with her around???)

Anders can melt in a horribly painful death... having the audacity to continually berate Merrill and then doing what he did. Frakking hypocrite and ass. Hate him with a passion.

It was stuff like this that made me trust her far more than Anders or Fenris or any of the ones that just slammed her at every turn for her decisions. She seemed willing to look at something without a knee jerk reaciton. Though I know some that have taken this for arrogance on her part.
I saw it as her going into a dangerous situation knowing the risks and not being ignorant to the danger she was in. But yeah I suppoose I can see some people taking it as arrogance. Though honestly it's hard for me to take it like that when Anders tells her this and he's the one who's already possessed, sort of giving her a holier than you attitude.
Not that I really dislike Anders... it's just his attitude got on my nervs once in a while. He was always really quick to dig into her at her weakest moments.

ANYWAY! My Hawke was a bit flirtatious in Act, apparently (though I do not remember flirting with Anders) here is some banter, some slightly paraphrased, which I thought hilarious. My FemHawke, Anders, Merrill, of course, and Isabella, these four became my constant party.
Ahem. banter:
Anders: Hawke never should have let you move into the estate. You will betray her at some point. Your kind [blood mages] always do
Merrill: Why do you always do this to only me. Why dont you ever harrass Isabella? Hawke slept with her, too!
Anders: Because sleeping with isabella is understood. . . she's like having a side dish.
Isabella: Yeah, a really good side dish.
That was a good laugh. Though, I'll never understand why Anders didn't see reason after all the discussions he and Merrill have, whilst traipsing throughout Kirkwall for years. One neat comeback Merrill had was knowing from the beginning that all spirits of the fade are dangerous. (Take that Anders!)

Oh. . . .. it does get grating, listening to Anders not backing down from his stance, but I'll leave debating him for a different thread. Besides, I'm still in Act 3.

The eyeball plucking is from a banter. There's also a proper conversation between Hawke and Isabela about the relationship with Merrill in which Isabela says she's glad Merrill has someone and threatens to castrate Hawke is he hurts her.Somebody wrote...

I think so. He ninja-flirted with me in Act 1, before I really knew which romance to pursue. Then, I was ninja-ed by Isabella in Act, thank god she doesn't mind keeping it casual. It was just funny how jealous he sounded.Somebody wrote...

On a side note, his armor changed to black. Hoping the Merrill romance isn't so bugged that it registers Anders as a romance instead. i'll be so friggen pissed.
Btw, has anyone else had Isabella invite both Hawke and Merrill to travel with her on her ship once their adventures in Kirkwall were over? Thought that was pretty cute. Don't know how Merrill will like the open sea, though.

She did mention in Banter to Isabella that she got really sea sick on her way to Kirkwall. Though she and her clan were in the hold the whole time.
