The only imports that seem to have trouble are witch hunt imports. Lucky me I guess, that I never even bought that expansion.

I am importing from Origins, so hopefully it will work out. Id rather they fixed the Merrill bugs more then anything though. I am reluctant to do this run, because I know I'll come across her bug again.

Bioware is usually pretty good about putting out updates....well from Neverwinter Nights on.
Sweet Andraste Baldur's Gate, loved you but you had more bugs that Isabela.B)

I like that there seems to be a lot of dialog I haven't yet heard.

I think it's because I'm not used to replaying games but I've been pleasantly surprised at how different lines tend to get difference responses from NPCs. I'm also more comfortable with using the various dialogue options. My first play through was diplomatic, and now I'm tending to charming/humorous.

I've intermittently used the aggressive response and figure I'll use it if I do an archer Hawke but...

I think years of BioWare games has conditioned me to avoid the aggressive option. Renegade, dark side, closed fist - I know the DA II system is different but I still always hesitate and tend to avoid the red fist.

Though the times I've used it, I've liked the result.

I was surprised with the options I chose. I mean from past experience with conversation wheels in Mass Effect I always choose the Paragon routes but in Dragon Age their set up in a bit of a less rigid way, where they're not really routes so much as they are just tones. And so in my first run I found myself taking a very humorous/charming path through the game. Mixed in with some diplomatic positions. I used the red fist a few times but only in pretty aggressive situations.

The Qunari is a great example actually. When I met the Arishok in the Viscount Keep I used a humorous response when he first addresses me and my Hawke said "I see a man who's ready to start a war on principle." Which I found really fitting.

Then when the Arishok asked me what I was going to do about it I did a rare move for myself and choose the closed fist and my Hawke said "There's only one way to end this." Which I also found to be really great. Because the Arishok had gone way too far and it was past negotiation now.

I don't know, I just really liked the new dialog system.

Heh, I picked the same. The Arishok respected me though, and we had a 1v1 battle to death.

He was a real pain in the ass to beat.

Try killing him as a mage....Though blood mage Fem Hawke got a little TOO much of a kick from it if you ask me....

Merrill is a so nice and interesting character... so naive, smart and resolute at the same time. i think the writers did a very good job with her, props to them!

Yes I just wish they'd fix that damned conversation bug in act 3!

Indeed. Once they patch a few bugs this game will be perfect.

Although to be honest I've been playing it too much to notice much....Got it last Tuesday....Beat it 3 times. One for each class.

I missed Fenris' quests.
And I never figured out how to do the "Who needs rescuing?" quest.
But other than that yep.

I could never get that rescuing quest either. Looked all over the Wounded Coast, and nothing.

It is a bug that causes it not to trigger correctly.

Most if not all the bugs that are major, like Merrill's chronological bug in Act III are being looked at right now, I know. But it'll take time. First they have to find it, then fix it, then submit it so it'll patch over the various platforms.

I mean I'd hope we'd see something in a week or so, but it may take longer than that realisticaly. Things like this unfortunatly take time.

Well I expect there to be some kind of patch in the next few weeks so I won't worry about it.

What exactly is this bug with Merrill's quest and how does it effect the romance?

You know what else I love about Merrill? Her skill trees. She's about as physically intimidating as a puppy dog in the rain, but she kicks serious butt. By the end of the game, she was doing far more damage than my mage Hawke and she never fell in battle.

She's smarter than me too. I'd have fun casting inferno and fireball at groups of mooks, turn around and she'd have petrified the scarabas or blood mage. Valiantly hacking away at the enemy that could kill everyone else in a matter of seconds but that I'd failed to notice.

It's not listed in the guide, so I don't think it was supposed to go into the release copy.

You see the reaction to her last quest prior to starting it.

It doesn't effect her romance as far as I've seen.

Yeah Merrill's skill tree is seriously brutal. She lacks creation magic but makes up for it by being able to kill just about anything before it can hurt you.

Yeah, she was definitely a lot better than the mage I built...I found myself controlling her more than Hawke.

Okay, thanks....now that you mention it, I do remember one scene that was odd and felt out of place (she was randomly crying by the mirror).  I can live with that until they fix it.

Same here.

Just got done becoming Champion with my second playthrough as a female Rogue and just like with my female mage, I romanced Merrill.

Even when I play a warrior eventually I'm not sure I'll be able to chage up.

Yeah I was worrying about that too. I kept thinking that it may screw up the relationship, but in the end it seems to play out how it should have except for that one scene.

lol. Merrill always outlasts anybody in battle. My mage is usually third to go down, but Merrill is always dependable to get me out of a jam with horrid odds.

It's hilarious, too, to see that little waif covered in rock armor. She turns into a golem.

True that.

And it looks way better than the animation of Rock Armor in DAO.

ohhhh now I finally understand why Merril was crying infront of the Mirror saying "She is gone, all of em are gone". I was the entire time like "whos gone?" "what are you talking about?".
I was so confused, because it was several hours before the actual mission where the Keeper died.

But reading this stuff here I finally now get that its a bug.
