I'd sort of like to see a pro human rights Tevinter at some point in the game. Because at this point it seems the Imperium has been turned into a bad guy dispenser.

Absolutely! I get that their political system is such that you have to be evil to get ahead, but not everyone is a mgaister, and not every magister has to be into getting ahead. I think the Chantry is about as corrupt as Tevinter.

If the Chantry and the Imperial Chantry mixed their ideas, it would be better. No slavery, and no oppression on mages.

Right, I feel like half of the words we hear about the Imperium is just Chantry propaganda to keep everyone hating them really.

I've always thought it would be neat if the Imperium had some kind of huge civil war that wasn't so much about getting mages out of power, so much as getting the ones with no sense of morality out of power, and putting decent leaders in their place, whether that be a good mage or a good normal person.

But that's just a story I've been toying around with in my head.

So uh yeah, Merrill... *appreciates*

But if they had a civil war, the qunari would be able to easily take advantage of that. Thats another reason why I side with mages. We need them to fight the qunari when the time comes.

That's why I think it'd be a good story. All the while they're trying to end their own little war so they can focus on the inevitable Qunari invasion.

Wrath of the Elvhen is a mode that damages enemies near her while healing herself. It ticks every four seconds and heals for 1% per tick. I... don't know what the damage coefficient is. And that sounds exactly as dirty as you intended. Don't lie.

I think it means 1% of her maximum health, and ticks once for each enemy that's damaged. So if she's surrounded she heals faster.

Yes, 1% of her maximum health (I thought that was a given? 1% of what else could it be? :P). I thought it might be per-enemy, but I couldn't remember that bit.

Just started Act Three and encountered the "Merrill crying before we actually did anything" bug. Any workarounds for this yet? Really enjoying her romance storyline and I'd prefer not to screw it up.

Although last time I wasn't romancing her and encountered the "can't talk to Merrill about what just happened" bug at the end of the quest, so maybe I'm screwed no matter what.

Whoops, I thought you meant the healing might be dependent on actual damage dealt. My bad.

Oh... yeah, I see how what I said could be taken that way :pinched:

It never occured to me that that might be what it meant, so it never occured to me that it might occur to someone else that that's what I meant. Try and say that five times fast :P

Hmmm.... is there some cute cutscene in the end with our LI =) I romanced Merrill and it was such a great story. I didn't get one after the ending boss-fight and the game said I traveled with Fenris. I sad to say that he was dead at that point. Like to do my first play blind so it didn't go too well for my little Hawke =) don't want to youtube it and see it beforehand. Just wondering if there is something in the end. I'll probably romance her again with a male Hawke later on.

Hmm, I've heard about the Isabella bug but not with Fenris.

Really I think it's a bug that basically puts you with the first person you flirted with/showed interest in as opposed to who you romanced at the end of the game.

As far as I know there isn't really a cut scene though you do get to kiss your LI before the final battle. It then says that all left except Merrill.

But the bug sometimes fumbles that up a tad. I never had a problem with this one as I never really flirted or showed interest in anyone but Merrill really.

But I'm almost sure that this bug is also in the works as with a few others. So in the next patch it'll probably be taken care of.

Thank you Samson =) then I know. Jupp, I did flirt with Fenris first so that makes sense bug-wise.

I think I found a way to make Merril's Act 3 cutscenes play in order.
Normally I always had Merrill at 100 friendship by Act 3. On this last playthrough of mine, she was between 50-60 friendship and everything played in order perfectly. A few things to note, however:

I didn't romance her. She was made 100 friendship after the beginning of Act 3, after her cutscene with Varric. Before that, she was between 50-60 friendship. She was never used in this particular game except for her quests. Also, the imported game I was using had only completed Origins, and didn't play with Awakening, Golems, or Witch Hunt. I've redone the Arishok fight, and the beginning - to ending of Act 3 multiple times now and the order of her scenes stays the way it normally would be. I'm not sure if having her full friendship/rivalry before Act 3 messes everything up, and puts stuff out of order or not. It also could be due to me having none of the above DLC on this imported save. Or... I could just be super lucky and the game decided to work for me after beating it three times now. I thought I'd just post what I found, just incase there's something to it.

Every other time it's messed up for me, I had full friendship/rivalry before the end of Act 2.

Edit: Fixed something I forgot to add.

It has nothing to do with imported saves, because I deliberately used the default history on my first playthrough and still got the bug.

Not having her at 100% and not romancing her, on the other hand, seems significant.

I sort of have to agree. They're not crazy. They're just douchebags.

I'd sort of like to see a pro human rights Tevinter at some point in the game. Because at this point it seems the Imperium has been turned into a bad guy dispenser.

Well, you have to remember that the Imperium is pretty much universally reviled OUTSIDE of its own borders, pretty much paralleling how the Catholic West and the Islamic Caliphates viewed the Eastern Roman Empire. Obviously, things are different inside Imperial borders. Even though we always hear about the magocracy repressing everybody, the entry on the Imperial Chantry (for example) talks about how the Tevinter populace was thrilled that the magisters were back in power.

So . . . the only pro-Tevinter character we'll see are Tevinters themselves. I suppose you mean party members when you talk about seeing them, because we've seen people like Magister Danarius, Caladrius, and the sorts. Heck, we've even seen elven Imperial loyalists like Fenris's sister and that woman assisting Caladrius in the alienage; so they needn't be racists or pro human as much as pro magic and pro Imperium.

Surprisingly, Merrill herself doesn't seem that annoyed by the Imperium. She talks about the last stand of the Elvhen but without anger, and she seems to find the magisters fascinating (Fenris is, after all, convinced she'll become one).

That's not really saying alot....considering his opinion about ALL mages. I would tend to agree with you though...I also want to see a sort of good guy type of tevinter mage( they all do seem to be douchebags....to piggyback off of ishmael's comment) ...maybe even a female romanciable one as DLC for DA 2. ;)

I'm sorry if this question has been asked before, but is there any cut-scene/conversation with Merrill at her house after you finish a new path in act 3 and are forced to kill the Dalish? I'm just wondering if this is a bug on the xbox because to me the quest seems unresolved.

Well the bug is that the wrap up for that quest actually plays at the beginning of Act III. A fix is currently in the works I'm almost assured.

Also you don't have to kill the Dalish, just take responsibility for Merrill's actions and they'll tell you all to get lost. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

It's a bug. For me, the scene where she is supposed to be crying about her dead clan triggered at the start of Act 3 and way before A New Path.

You may want to put this in the Act III issues thread in the tech support forum of your choosing. They might like this information if they don't already have it.

I just finished 'A New Path', the quest that scene was supposed to be an ending to.  How frustrating!  First of all, as my LI, why the heck is Merrill still visiting her home in the Alienage?

Also, it's incredibly frustrating to have no talk after an incredibly traumatic event for Merill.  Slaughtering her Keeper, or in some cases, her entire tribe.  Hope this patch comes soon.  Don't think I will be replaying, at least on the xbox version, until it's resolved.
