Merrill helps bring up your a porspective for Bloodmages and demons, who are the very reason people like the Knight Commander are hammering down on mages. She gives the other side prospective that Anders can't give.

After knowing her, would you want her arrested and tranquiled? Do you think she's dangerous, and must have her life taken away?

She does not really bring up any new perspective on demons. As for the bloodmagic, it is true she has a viewpoint on it, but I persoanlly felt that it was not really that important to her character.

Anyways, does anyone know how long a Dalish tribe stays in one place? 6-8 months? 1-2 years? There are wild rices they could plant and grow in three seasons.

I don't know. No more than a year or two, I'd expect. Merrill's admonishment of Marethari for staying so long made me think that they should have been gone by the first time skip.

They grow eggplants in Ferelden. Eggplants are native to Southeast Asia and grow best in tropical and sub-tropical areas. Ferelden is supposed to be a cold, temperate climate.

I think there's something going on with the soil.

I was under the impression that a great deal of what they ate was gained by trading with humans. It seems that a few in each clan seem to have the job of going to human cities and trading for things. I'd presume they trade whatever crafts they might have made from trees and such in the forest for food from the human cities.

At first this might go down fairly smoothly but after while humans grow resentful and it's time for the Dalish to move on.

"There are no good spirits. I've always known that. I sorry you didn't".

Or Anders describing what it's like being possessed to the point of scaring her, and he says "Good. You should be. This could be you!"

And if you romanced her after your mother died, you can tell her "This is what Bloodmagic does." And she'll says "Bloodmagic isn't to blame. He could have easily used a knife instead."

And for someone that studied the dark art, she's the most pure-hearted in the party.

In one banter in act 3, Aveline asks why she is still there. If your in a relationship with her, then she says she is staying because of Hawke. If not, then I think she says that it makes life simpler to stay around, or something like that.

Best banter ever? Check. Best love interest ever? Double-check.

Which says more about Ander's character? I think it is him who shows the "there are no good spirits", with the the whole justice/vengance thing.

To avoid going in circles. What I'm trying say is this. That being a (blood)mage was not the part of Merrill's character that was in focus, it was just tools for her.  Her character was more about "How far can/should you go to help your people?". Compared to the mages vs templar question which was more about "Suppresion of the minority for the sake of security to the majority".

I love that she actively seeks out Isabela's dirty stories. As much as they might gross her or make her blush she does like living vicariously through Isabela.

Hmmm...

I don't know about the last one.

I'm still debating with myself. Haven't reached consensus.

Well, I myself didn't understand a few of them...
Like the one where Merrill asks "what things a woman is good for".

It confused me. I don't understand what Isabella meant with that.

I always liked Leliana, but Merrill is also a cute girl...

Bah. It's hard to tell.

You know what? I like them both. They're both good LI's.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go into hiding again.

a maybe little off-side point but:......i know that if you've sided with Architect in DAA Justice would leave-do you think it's the same Justice that got into Anders?

The justice you meet in awakening is the same justice you meet in DA2.

Granted he's turned into vengance, despite what he claims (that is just my own interpertation).

Oh, I love Leiliana too. It's the accents that get me.

But Merrill's just fantastic. After talking with her for a bit, I think I said out loud, "Tali who?" to one of my friends. Though my favorite part is if you bring her along on Aveline's Donnic quest.

"A dowry would only matter if you were courting him."

Wait, with Bethany?

Whoa, whoa, whoa... I'm more confused now...

But wasn't it Isabella that said something about six things on which Merrill replied? But if it was Bethany... then why... how... what... whe-

Merrill has some great lines.

But for me, the magic started once I saw her. She looked way better in the game than on the pictures I had seen so far. So I was like "This ought to be interesting."

The rest? I really don't have to explain, do I?

Its a banter between Bethany and Isabela. She asks Isabela if she has been with woman, and Isabela tells her that men are only good for one thing, while woman are good for six.
