Why is there so much good Anders and Fenris fanart, and very little good Merrill fanart? I guess it has something to do with how crazy some fangirls are.

I feel, given that DA2 is more of a character driven story, that's it's no biggie if a particular character isn't relevant to the main plot.

Well there was also a lot of fanart made of him from Awakening.

Not all characters need to be important to the plot to be good. Isabela,, Varric, Seb and Anders are important to the main story but that does not make Merrill or anyone else not important or not good. Merrill's story is personal, it's about her trying to help her people and doing so she is risking her life.

Well, Merrill can't die, right?

I heard that if you don't have enough friendship or rival points with her and side with the templars, you will face her in combat and have to kill her. Sorta like Fenris (althrough you fight him if you side with mages).

Merrill, Aveline, Anders, Fenris, Beth and Carver can all die.

The only people who are always alive no matter what is Varric, Isabela and Seb.

At the end of the game, side with the Templars.
If Anders hasn't already turned on you or died, and Merrill is not at full rivalry or friendship, she fights you.

I really would like to see that scene now, but i dont think Id be able to go through a whole playthrough without getting Merrill to full friendship/rivalry.

I mean that she should have been a partymember in a dragon age game which story focused more on the elves. Dragon age 2 do not really do that and as a result, she feels slight out of place compared to the rest.

I wouldn't say she's in the wrong game. Merrill is just one of those characters who, rather than being directly involved with one of the oposing factions, is more on the outside looking in at this great conflict between principles and ideals. She's essentially caught in the middle of all this quarreling much like Hawke is initially.

It just occurred to me that I don't think she even needs to be important for... well, anything. I mean to say that the fact that she's not a central character to the main threads in the same way that Isabela and Anders are isn't a bad thing.

I'm not sure if anyone's saying that it is, but I just thought I'd throw in my two cents. Hawke isn't that important either, except that she involves herself with everything because she's the PC. Merrill involves herself with everything because of Hawke.

I've just finished watching Isabela's romance scene, and have also seen Fenris' scene. Isn't it kind of odd that Merrill's scene is the only one where skin is shown?
