Ah, it's apart of Ander's romance. Strange how people are just randomly running into your house.

The most annoying thing is that for every, single battle, Merrill constantly goes "Do you think they're wearing down? Because I am." There ought to be a way to suppress the low mana comments on a BM.
I don't know if it is known already, but... I know another exploit, if you're interested. It doesn't work with passive skills and upgrades, though.Teclo wrote...
There's also this apparent Blood Mage Exploit that's mentioned on the Wiki.
Ah yes, I found this very annoying. She was saying it again and again and again. It got soooo annoying in the end that I turned the sound off until the end of the battle.DoNotIngest wrote...

Yes, and have something else for when she's getting low HP. "Ooh, my vision's getting spotty... Anyone have a bandage?"

Not that I'm aware of, but you can talk to her regarding sleeping arrangements. She'll ask if the dog can sleep in a different room, to which Hawke will reply, "Is it because he watches us, when we..?"Maria Caliban wrote...
Does Merrill have any romance dialogues like this? I invited her to my home, but I don't recall ever having a conversation with here there.

Not sure what to think of that, tbh. I hadn't really considered it before but I guess I always assumed you'd make the dog sit outside when you're in the mood for the horizontal tango.

Isabela doesn't so much randomly wander as break in and rifle through your stuff.

I looked through my artist list and could only think of a couple.Maria Caliban wrote...

I can't think of one for Merrill.
Does the ring dialogue change if you give it to her after you romance her?TMA LIVE wrote...
Well, there's this,
And there's the ring, and the one about how your dog shouldn't sleep in the same bed.

Yeah, I just tried to think of one and couldn't. To be fair, apart from really silly things, it's hard to think of a song about something in a particular just like that. I've not seen the posts about the songs that remind them of Isabela, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's just the name of the song or a prominent lyric rather than the actual music or deeper meaning of the song (kind of like someone using Norwegian Wood by The Beatles to adverstise luxury wooden furniture from Norway, even though it's about having an affair and then burning a girl's house down...)In the Isabela thread, they're posting songs that remind them of Isabela.

I've been racking (wracking?) my brain, and all I can come up with is a song about Elizabeth Bathory.
Yeah.

Not really. Aside from mass murder and torture and stuff, the stories are thematically similar. Elizabeth Bathory was totally a blood mage.

Merrill's personality screams of an unhealthy obsession with something, and the willingness to go to any lengths to achieve it.
For Elizabeth Bathory, it's using other people's blood to achieve eternal youth*.
For Merrill, it's using her own blood to fix the mirror.
*She was actually probably just a sadist, but the mythical woman of the stories was stricken with sinful vanity.
DoNotIngest wrote...
Using other people's blood to achieve eternal youth: To me, this says complete selfishness, apathy, vanity... Plus, fear of death.
Using her own blood to fix the mirror: Pretty selfless, working to better her culture, unless you look at it in a way that makes you think she's doing it all because she's prideful and thinks she's better than other Dalish (I don't, some do, it's all opinion). Especially her refusal to use blood other than her own. Considering the amount of scarring poor Merrill must have, she's not vain on a purely physical level, for sure. And she's quite willing to die for her belief.
I'm happy hearing your thoughts in response and calling it settled, we'll just think about what each other has said and move along. I hate it when dozens of posts are committed to a rather pointless opinion war (which this isn't even close to yet, mind).

I agree with everything you've said. So there.
I just don't think that the discrepancy in motivation invalidates the comparison. They're still both stories of obsession, power, and the inevitable fall from grace.
