It depends whether history in Thedas is correct or not, maybe Elves practiced blood magic within a certain limit, when Tevinters learned it from them they pushed the limits... it's really possible that the whole Old Gods taught them Blood Magic is a chantry lie.

Than again they made Tali a LI for ME2 so I don't see it as farfetched that she may be a LI or take a likeing to Hawke... Only for her feelings to be shunned untill Dragon Age 2 -Insert Name- Expansion where only Varric and her Return and are made killable LIs because of fan demand!

Considering the whole chantry vs mages thing going on in Thedas. That would NOT surprise me at all. I'll say this though...with Merrill being apart of the party...there is a good chance her personal spec style could be the 'keeper' spec that was a mage spec in DAA... which I know saying something like that will only further the theories on her being forced from the clan like Velanna. I don't so much mind her story playing out in that way other than it's complete re-write of a past plotpoint from our(the gamer's) perspective just I hope she doesn't have Velanna's personality...which I have said in other threads wasn't such a problem...though I would have liked to converse with her more and break down the walls she had up for the most part in the game.

T.Y. for clarification=).And please can you enlighten us on elves-humans high ration in the DA2? Is it as in origins or they are higher...like male as high as human female. I do not think this will  be major spoiler you see=).

I always thought since she was first speculated to be a companion that she'll have the keeper spec, but somehow in the magazine they describe her unique tree as "blood mage like" tree, it'd be very interesting if these tress were mixed up or we find out that the Dalish generally fuel their magic with blood, and let's not forget Zathrian, he used a blood magic ritual to bound a spirit into a wolf...

I don't mind her being cast out as well, but as long as it has a different reason that with Velanna.

Problem with this would be, the claims about being taught by the Old Gods supposedly come from the first magister himself, long before the Chantry even existed.

That's the point I was wanting to make with that...if they do something of that nature with her story then atleast make the reason different...I actually like the dalish elf warden's prologue story ending style for her...with her getting up with the Magical power or force that emitting from the mirror. That way you can explain her banishment from the clan as well as her...I'm gonna say even STRONGER profiency with magic...no matter what spec it is she gets along with her primary mage skills. It will be a quite fun to play around with her skill perspective as well as delve deeper into her own personal storyline and plot perspective.

She makes me want to do a dalish elf run-through just to find out what differences, if any, are in her conversation.

I doubt that Merrill will be cast out the same way as Velanna. It might be related to her 'blood magic' spec.

It's important to realize that the companion specializations are unique to them and have a bit more to them than DA:O, so it could be a blend of blood magic and keeper magic that she's worked on.

What about her 'morality?'

It's easy to look at her and see a good character like Leliana, but we know that previously Mary worked on Sten and Loghain, who were both not traditionally good people.

Not talking about the Welsh accents of course, but in Origins she spoke with a sterniss (is that even a word?) tone. But then again, that might just be because of the situation and she had to stay calm...
