Right now, the resolution of the Merrill quest is based on your friendship or rivalry.

I was actually wondering just this. I haven't thought too much about it, but it seems silly at first glance. Standing and outcome of quests should both be symptoms of the same cause (how you deal with Merrill). The former shouldn't cause the latter.

By the way, all I meant about not seeing Flemeth again is that I'd like at least three years before the next DA game, so Bioware can go into more depth with their storyline.

That Merrill launcher adds to the list of reasons I wish I played on a comp.

I understood :police:

I don't care about DAIII right now, because it (hopefully) won't feature Merrill too much. I want an expansion.

Yeah, but the resolution of the quest happens prior to you going to Sundermount. I don't know what triggers it if everything works.

Anyway, we debated earlier as to when Merethari lets the demon into her, I think it's at the beginning of Act 3. In Act 2, there's a shimmering barrier in front of the cave entrance. At the beginning of Act 3, it's gone. When Merrill asks you to take her to the demon, she tells you that she tried to contact the demon but wasn't able to do so.

Here's everything about that statement that I disagree with:

Dragon Age 2: Merrill? Hell yes.

That makes sense. When I got to the climax of the quest, I never had the impression that Marethari had just done it. I'd never thought about that barrier, though. I just know that if you run into it in Act I, you get a cool fight. Now that you bring it up, I'll bet that it's gone because of Marethari.

So, really, any time after Hawke became the Champion. Three years is a lot of time.

I just read on the wiki that Merrill is supposed to destroy the mirror if the clan gets slaughtered regardless of friendship/rivalry. Anyone able to confirm?

She only destroys it in the rival path. In the friendship path she keeps it, and still works on it.

Buttercups!

Then I think I'm gonna rivalmance her from now on...

Even when I've not romanced Merrill. The mirror is gone from her home once you have completed her act 3 mission regardless. Even when I've freindmanced her the mirror wasn't there anymore. I went to my estate and didn't see the mirror there either. I've also always used the line about how Merathari loved her. Unless it's broken from that mindset. She stops using the mirror. The demon who was helping her is gone. Basically her 2nd mother sacrificed herself to protect her.

I never noticed evidence of her still working on the mirror after that.

The mirror bring gone is a bug. That's what Mary said. She's suppose to still have it, and continue to work on it with Bloodmagic.

Wouldn't it trigger right after finishing her quest? As in, you'd get the quest to go check on her at her house.

I used the console to see the proper resolution and how it varied depending on friendmance or rivalmance. Pretty awesome to actually see the proper scene...

FIX THIS BIOWARE!! :pinched:

It's supposed to be in the "next patch", with the rest of the companion issues. Of course, there hasn't been any patch so far, so when the "next patch" is, nobody knows.

Yeah, it's a bug. If you are her friend, she keeps the mirror and continues with blood magic. If you are her rival, she destroys it and give up blood magic.

I am almost finished with the game where I rivalmanced Isabela and am considering a rivalry with Merrill but... I am weak. Going to her Keeper to get the knife-that-fixes-mirrors and then going 'snatch!' and not letting her have it is kinda mean.

They released the first patch last week.

I think the game assumes that only keeper died in her quest.

And what outfit do you guys like better, Merrill's green or white one? (I personally prefer the green one)

Mean, and I think the she should continue with the mirror/blood magic. Concepting a character who thinks otherwise will be different, because I can't justify it to myself logically without demeaning poor Merrill.

Hmm, normally I like the green one better, but I've been using this mod that alters her secondary outift a bit, and I think I like it better overall.

Oh. I thought there was only that little comp-only "patch". What was in it?

I quite like Merrill's green outfit, but I think some of shaping in her romance outfit is more appealing. Now, if she'd only wear her scarf with her romance outfit, I'd be happy with that Posted Image

I like the white outfit better, but I wish it came with a scarf.

THIS IS NOT BECAUSE I DON'T LIKE MERRILL'S NECK.

Some people think she has a weird neck. Whatevs is all I have to say to that. I JUST REALLY LIKE HER SCARF?!?!

Like Mary Kirby said, its just tough love. It really depends on what you think is right.
