What you know about Aveline is limited to her figure--that's problem number one. You know nothing about her, personally. What we know about Isabela is that she's a pirate, and she likes sex. So did Morrigan, and Leliana did too (even if she changed to believe in twoo luv). She's not married--Zevran killed her husband. She didn't seem to care for him, and I doubt he'll be brought up much. Her feelings about romance is a fair point, though. I don't care much for it either, considering we just saw it happen quite a few BioWare romances.

I didn't know any such about Leliana, actually. I deliberately skipped all that stuff in the dialog because it soured the experience for me. Isabela is rather in-your-face about it all, though. Morrigan was initially someone I was not going to romance. Further conversations with her made it worth while. Maybe one of these characters will end up like that as well. But there's a distinct difference between Morrigan's initial approach and Isabela's general universal lust. As for Aveline, first attraction is always physical. Unless you're blind (I mean this literally, not as a hyperbole or metaphor) the first thing you notice about someone is how the person looks. I don't think that women shouldn't be strong, but the muscular proportions turn me off. There's a difference between a lean well muscled body and a large muscled body. I'm not attracted to the latter. I don't think there's anything wrong with being honest about that. Also, I believe I heard that she's married when you first run into her. Then her husband dies. Also a huge turn off. Maybe ten years down the road it wouldn't matter, but coming fresh off the death I'd have no interest in being the rebound.

Ok, well I'm exagerating about Aveline's butchness. But it's still not along the lines of what I'd find attractive in an LI.

Merril's facial balance is like that of a baby. WIDE forehead and upper 1/3 facial zone with a smaller nose, mouth and chin. I think that is partly what people are sensing, factor in disproportionate chest region and it just... well, it doesn't add up.

Yeah, the innitial thought I had concerning how oddly large they were was that it was that big chest piece making things stick out. But that's not what bugged me. And as said above, it's not that she's ugly either. The cuteness just isn't striking me as a positive thing here. It seems out of place.

Gaider says that her... assets do not look like that in the real game and are in fact much smaller. Good, they look like bowling balls

I assumed they were going to give her a new Welsh VA to make it fit with the rest of the new Dalish. We know they aren't opposed to the idea of new VAs, à la Isabela. I don't think there's anything wrong with her voice in DA:O, it would just seem out of place if all the other Dalish had Welsh accents.

Edit: Also, maybe it's just the scarf, but doesn't her outfit look somewhat...futuristic? Kind of like Morrigan's clothing in the SA trailer. Not necessarily a bad thing, but it doesn't look very dalish to me.

It's a staff model from DAO. Everything was insanely huge in that game, greatswords, longswords, daggers, staves...
