I think someone made a drawing similar to that a while back. It was pretty good too, anyone seen it?
You mean the one with everybody but Hawke (BOOO!) playing strip poker, with Merrill completely naked with a card shark smirk on her face? There's a link on Page 1
I know right? Anybody know the easiest way I could turn that into a large poster on my wall?

That being said this lengthy discussion over supporting or opposing Merrill's actions has really got me questioning the motivations of my Hawke's rivalmance. Way to go thread.
You're not the only one. This thread gave me the idea that rivalmancing Merrill wasn't a bad thing and then stabbed it in the face.
I'm so conflicted.
EDIT: Boy, this thread moves fast. Also, is this the strip poker everyone's talking about? Nekkid Merrill with a cigar = hilarious.

I have. I prefered the rivalmance. But the discussion here has made me second guess my decision and think Hawke could be a controlling I-know-what's-best-for-you jerk. I suppose it's all perspective.
@Torax that's a nice way to put it.

To be fair to Pseudocognition, she drew it before the game came out and before we knew much about Merrill. Plus, it was for the lulz, not intended to be an accurate portrayal of everyone. Except maybe Isabela.Emperor Iaius I wrote...

Personally, I find that drawing hilarious due to the out of character humor in it. Plus, I love Pseudo's style and sense of humor in general. This one comes to mind.

For all the Dalish say about how bad humans are, it didnt stop Merrill or Arianni from being with one.Torax wrote...
Give the Rival path credit. It does have her challenge you. I did really like the part when she loses control and calls hawke a shemlen. There is the debate about the mirror and all of that and I understand how everyone will not agree whole heartedly. But I think it's an interesting side of it. Despite not fully supporting her on her efforts, Merrill still can't resist where her heart takes her.

The best observation about the dalish in DA2 is Fenris talking to Merrill as he points out how the Dalish think of themselves as superior to basically everyone else. It's actually quite true. Merrill is far more gentler in regards to it. But still comes across at times with it, just in regards to other elves of course.

That Merrill wants to show mercy to someone who she's interacted with for about 6 years isn't surprising. She's sort of taken on Hawke and co as her flat-earred clan.TMA LIVE wrote...
I doubt she'd want to make a slave out of someone, drag him everywhere, just to sacrifce him at the right moment. Especially a murderer. Besides, I doubt she'd support such a thing. I mean, she wants Anders to live in order to redeem himself. And he blew up a church, and almost killed someone once (or could/did?).

Should note. Merrill only mentions it if Hawke asks for their opinions. Merrill generally supports Hawke's decisions as her guardian, protector and to a point her newer/kinder keeper. She rarely interjects into any conversations in regards to decisions.

Have we seen Merrill's character on a late night with all the crew, and am elfroot cigar on the go?

That really depends. She was quite vocal in pro-mage decisions--and even if she doesn't say anything, the friendship/rivalry modifiers make it clear she has an opinion. It's a shame that they go away once maxed out, because you can't even see reactions after that.
Yes, it would be nice if there was still a "Merrill (or other companion) dissaproves", just without the numbers.

I wouldn't say Hawke is controlling. If Hawke really didn't want her working on the mirror, he would have smashed it. Or stole it. But he didn't. He doesn't try to drag her away, or force her to not talk to the demon. Instead he lets her have it for 3 years, despite not liking it. And they both go to Sundermount despite disagreeing. And it is her who destroys it in the end as her independent choice. Not Hawke.
While the friendship version, Merrill is the one in control, and Hawke is just doing her bidding.
Rival wise, it's more equal because it doesn't involve just following whatever Merrill says. It involves you both resisting and fighting each other for years. They aren't just agreeing with each other, with Hawke just doing as Merrill asks, or her doing as he asks. She even kicks him out of the house, and fixes the Mirror without his help (and without the item she wants, amazingly). So she's more independent, and tough.
And though they disagreed, they stayed together for 3 years because they both came to an understanding.

Isabela does not act as though she exists only for other's sexual gratification. In fact, she seems far more interested in her own desires and consistently protests when others judge her solely as a sex object.Malevolence65 wrote...
