A person who enjoys her alone time will continue to do so whether they're in a relationship or not.

Merrill might like having her own house. She might prefer the alienage, either because she's more comfortable living among elves or because the humans of Hightown make her even less welcome than they do.

I think it's because no matter her circumstances - and being with Hawke in Hightown is probably pleasant - she is still a pariah from her people. Merrill doesn't fit in Hawke's world and she says she doesn't like Kirkwall.

Not being able to "fix" your significant other is painful enough in realy life... I don't need a game telling me that I can't make someone feel loved and accepted :crying:

Her preferring to be alone also seems a bit strange if you're in a relationship with her since it makes it feel like she frequently wants to be away from Hawke no matter what you do.

Well, since she stays permanently at the estate once her quest is finished, I think her alone time is more about keeping the Eluvian away from Hawke (as she says in that first convo in act 3, "it's better that somethings stay away from this house").

+1. Merrill seems to rarely leave Hawke's mansion in the empty spaces of her time, unless it's to work on the Eluvian, which isn't that often. Better than her just drifting about, really.

Does anyone remember the story about Fen' Harel being told by Merrill to the Dog? How is it told?

I've read the codex entry and heard the story Merrill tells Hawke when you give her the ring. Is there a third story?

It's when Merrill visits you at Gamlen's house in Act 1 and tells your dog a story about Fen' Harel and how dogs ward him off.

What story does she tell dog?

One where a Keeper's dog protects him from the Dread Wolf by biting him and not letting go, forcing the Dread Wolf to chew off its tail to escape.

On a different topic, I ended up watching a video about the Cammen quest from Origins and remembered that in Dalish culture "bonding" is marriage. Does anyone remember this ever being brought up? I don't and I find it somewhat dissapointing.

I'm new to this "oral communication", it almost sounds passive-aggressive.

Considering she's the Dalish Pariah, has left the clan, and is in a relationship with a human (which, for some reason, guarrantees only human children, were they to have any), I don't think her or her clan are too fussed with going through the traditional Dalish marriage.

Doesn't mean it wouldn't be neat.

Still, I wish there was scene that goes like:
Merrill: "Well, you see, Keeper…Hawke…and I…are…what's the term Isabela used?"
Hawke: "Quoting Isabela won't help our case here."

Do the Dalish have a specific name for their dogs or is it not mentioned?

She mentioned the name, but I can't remember what it was. Something "hounds", I think. Her reaction to Dog's enthusiasm at the end is cute.

Lack of posts in the Merrill Appreciation Thread makes DoNotIngest a dull boy.

There isn't really any FanFiction out, I take it? I need something new to read anyways.
