Yes, that's Mythal. I actually captured that on video.

What story does she tell dog?

One where a Keeper's dog protects him from the Dread Wolf by biting him and not letting go, forcing the Dread Wolf to chew off its tail to escape.

On a different topic, I ended up watching a video about the Cammen quest from Origins and remembered that in Dalish culture "bonding" is marriage. Does anyone remember this ever being brought up? I don't and I find it somewhat dissapointing.


Do the Dalish have a specific name for their dogs or is it not mentioned?



She mentioned the name, but I can't remember what it was. Something "hounds", I think. Her reaction to Dog's enthusiasm at the end is cute.



Well can anyone look up the name for me? I want to use it for my dog in DAO for my Dalish playthrough, I had no luck finding it myself.

Luckily for you, I saved right before it, in case I ever got Merrill nostalgia; She's a very good storyteller Posted Image It's pronounced "Corsing Hound" (Or maybe "Coursing") although several times throughout the tale she's content to mention him as either "Corser" or "the Hound", so Corser would work if the full name wouldn't fit.

At the end:

Dog: "Happy Bark!"
Merrill: I'm pleased you liked it. So few animals are interested in Dalish history. You've got a sweet dog, Hawke... See you later.

I love the usebar, Anubis! *Puts it on*

I have a question for those who friendmance Merrill: What class is your Hawke when you romance her? I use a mage only because I feel that a Mage!Hawke would understand the benefits(and not just the dangers) of repairing the Eluvian better than a normal Hawke who uses mere weapons, let alone finding benefits in using blood magic.

My Merrill romance was with a friendly (non-Blood) mage. However, it wasn't planned. I think any class would work.

I actually had my lawful mage get her to max rivalry, though it wasn't a romance.

When I friend-romanced her on my rogue, though, I didn't really take my class into account. I just treated her based on my own opinions of stuff - didn't really try to play a particular alignment for roleplaying's sake.

I'm currently playing a rivalmance warrior, as painful as it is . . .

On my first playthrough, I just acted naturally and I had her on max friendship before Act I was even half over. This is why she's my favorite. :P

I clicked Properties on the top pic, copy pasted the code thing onto the page, put it between the typical img stuff, and highlighted + big BBC button. Just in case you did something differently, you may not have.

It looks like people are still focusing on DAO-centric fanfics at the moment. There are only a few Merrill fanfics up, including the one I wrote nearly two months ago...

Not to bash, but I have a bad feeling about Fenris coming in at 3rd, minimum. I mean, I suppose his story isn't bad, and all, but really, I don't think his popularity has anything to do with character...

I think I'll read a few lines of the Merrill FanFic, and if it's really good, I'll just print it off and read it tonight. Sounds like it will be.

Then again, maybe it's best to deny fans their every tawdry desire. A character does not need to be a romantic interest to be wonderful - see: Varric and Aveline - and not every wonderful character needs to be a romantic interest.

Also, I wonder why Mary only writes the non-humans. Coincidence, or does she prefer them?
