Never heard of Fool's Gold before, but I'll check it out now.
Also, what about friendmance theme songs? Hawke can support Merrill in everything, or at least the mirror. I don't think a Merrill love theme has to be about conflict exclusively. Even then, though, I haven't found anything. Granted, I'm not looking a whole lot because of the comic. Almost done inking the last page.

This song. It's just. (to me) Yes. For Hawke x Merrill that is.

Makes me think of the Hawke and Merrill romance.
Seems fitting.
@DalishRanger.
I see I am not the only one who feels like that song is over used.

I actually think her innocent outlook is party to hide the darkness and loneliness inside. She doesn't want others to think of how she is and how her pursuit for the past has pushed her. Think of it as reverse goth.Torax wrote...

Umm. Now that I think about it, Bring me to life by Evanescence fits that Torax.Evanescence
True, come to think of it. It's just hard. Merrill comes across so innocent why I think so many songs don't feel right.
edited after listening.
The hard part is it's hard to see her ever truly numb or cold. The world around her was cold but not her. She was only blind to the outside almost. Like she is watching the world around her. Like it's revolving and she isn't a part of it anymore. All she has is the Mirror and Hawke. Towards the end it is just more like all she can believe is Hawke. When it's all going to hell just one thing reigns in her mind. "I love Hawke!" I've always loved that banter with Aveline.
Maybe I'm reading to much into it and I'm crazy.

Tender Trip on Earth by Tristania.
Song for You by Lunatica. Maybe better for a friendmance.
Come to Me by Elis.
I can probably find some more easily

I'm also here to drop this off

Merrill: "What's that Mr. Eluvian? Oh. OH. Yes, yes. I'll kill Hawke! She'll stop being so cross that way."
Hawke: "...I knew I shouldn't have rivalmanced her."

Ooh, theme songs again? Well, I think I've recommended "Hazy" twice now, so I'll have to try to find some new songs for Merrill...
Get It Right, from Glee of all things, fits Merrill eerily well after Marethari's (and potentially her clan's) death in A New Path.
Also As Ballad - Yorgos Kazantzis. It's an instrumental piece, but somehow it reminds me of Merrill.

Okay, i did it i sold my soul and wrote a adult fanfiction with Merrill.
I'm home from the Czech Republic and have just updated my fanfiction.
The direct link is here:
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/6831578/5/
If you read it i would appreciate any critisism and reviews of it and the fanfiction as a whole, it's the first time i descriped a intimate situation, and in English too.
Hope you enjoy it though.
First suggestion: paragraphs. It makes it way easier on your reader.
Whenever changing a key subject or a speaker, change paragraphs. If you did paragraph in your original document, it's possible that FF.N ate the paragraphing. For maximum fidelity, put a full carriage return (empty line) between each paragraph, just as I'm doing here.
Like so.
Thank you, it means alot to me, it's smarter to post the feedback on the fanfiction page though, i get email notes when people do that there

I love you. xD I was trying to find that song earlier simply because I like it (but I couldn't remember the title). So not only have I found that song again, I have to agree - it fits perfectly for Merrill's Act 3 quest. Now I love that song even more.Captain Uccisore wrote...

Still going through the other songs people have listed. Good picks so far, from what I've been listening to.
And I got a good laugh at that fan art. Love Hawke's expression!
Edit: Also - I finally finished inking! Whoo-hoo! Onto backgrounds. That's the only other possibly time-consuming thing... Shading won't take long with what I have in mind. I might have these comics done before tomorrow afternoon.

I'm compiling notes to write my own. I can't do something if I don't think it's done right.

I certainly don't agree that the relationship feels superficial or any less deep in the friend romance.
Boths paths are great and if you like the rival one better, good. I still haven't decided which one I like better, but neither of them is superficial.

I agree. I honestly don't like the friendship romance except the Lady Hawke version. The Male version just feels too close to a Tali romance. I find the rival romance more personal, honest, and real.

For the friendship romance, Merrill is completely in love with Hawke, and Hawke completely supports Merrill. There isn't any drama, because, for the friendly romance, you don't need tinted glasses to see the world in rose.

In the rival version I find them both equals. Hawke isn't just agreeing and doing as Merrill bids. Hawke disagrees and speaks honestly. Merrill disagrees and speaks honestly. Hawke doesn't just do as Merrill bits. Merrill doesn't just do as Hawke bids. But they both know they care about each other, and have come to an undertstanding. It's a real life romance.

Ok, I understand that you like the rival romance better, but saying that the friend romance isn't similar to a a real life romance... yeah, no. It is just as real as the rival one.

Note that even in the friendly romance, Hawke often comments about Merrill's safety. Nobody's being submissive, Hawke just understands Merrill's determination and either agrees with it or thinks it's her decision, and it's not his right to force her to do anything, just as she doesn't impose anything on Hawke's actions throughout the game. They care about each other, with fewer barriers between them.
Hey, if it wasn't for, "To each their own.", the world would be a boring place. I like both relationships, but as I would fully support Merrill in real life, I also fully support her in game, because I see sense in what she does. They're both real relationships, just one is more turbulent.

It's not the same when everyone keeps saying "it's rainbows all the time". That's what I mean.
A real romance has moments when a couple have fights.
