I picked the romance option, naturally, but would have chosen the history option otherwise. I'm disappointed that "become a magister and rule the world" was not one of the choices.

It's in the realm of possibility, though. The Tevinter resident Feynriel is destined to be a powerful mage who has the ability to kill people in his sleep, he has elven ancestry, and he's writing to his best friend Hawke about how word is spreading in Tevinter about him. Hawke is already becoming a legend in the Imperium. Side with the mages and start a Thedas-wide revolution, and I can see Hawke being a hero to the Magisters, especially having defeated the Arishok. If word is also spreading about being descended from the Magister Parlathan, I think it would only benefit him. And Merrill has no problem with blood magic.

A song I strangely find may fit Merrill:
Live & Learn
Specially this part:

Live and learn!
Hanging on the edge of tomorrow,
Live and learn!
From the works of yesterday.
Live and learn!
If you beg or if you borrow,
Live and learn!
You may never find your way.

P.S. I wish Sonic games returned to sick songs like that one.

Merrill doesn't have a problem with blood magic contained to one's own blood. You've seen her reaction to the blood magic sacrifice (it was in some ruin or another)? She deffinately doesn't like blood magic via sacrifices.

There goes my backup plan! (use Anders and Fenris as blood batteries)!

Yeah, she seems more than a little disturbed by the idea of unwilling sacrifices. It's adorable, but I do hope she'll get over it. She'll make a good magister.

Lobsel: How do you make Feynriel a Tevinter resident? I sent him to the Dalish.

As far as being a hero to the magisters. . . yes. Yes, I think I would like that a lot. Let's hope that's the course that future games take.

I just remembered something. After seeing the "Why side with Mages?" thread, I started trying to think of another bad Templar besides Anders' quest guy and Meredith, and I remembered during "Act of Mercy" (Thrask and the blood mages in the cave), when you exit the cave, if you choose to fight, Ser Karras says the following. This was in a party where the only woman was Merrill:

"Kill the men. Take the pretty one in for questioning."

Never seen an enemy go down so fast through all of my playthroughs. Yet another rapist Templar. Most-hated NPC, anybody?

Don't worry about it! I'm sure some Tevinter magister will pay well for blood batteries; Isabela's run-of-the-mill freed slaves were worth 100 sovereigns apiece, you can probably retire half of Kirkwall on those two; Very rechargable!

Yes, I read through the comic, and I thought it was very well done. Loved the dialogue.

I wanted to know Leandra's reaction to Merrill for either sex, as well. I'll assume there isn't any? Considering she comments how she'll have to find you a husband/wife (depending on gender), I wanted to see her reaction to my, ah... "Dalish lover". ;)

She'll just say 'I've seen how you and that elf look at eachother...' when she has that whole 'I wonder if I should re-marry' convo (if you've slept with Merrill before that).

Nope, Vaughan still fills that role (Quentin and Howe are pretty close seconds).

But... Karras dies from now on. No exceptions. I hate rapists.

Ah, that's a shame. While what's there is certainly nice, I wish there was more character and NPC interaction.

Yes, it could have been entertaining to see how Merrill interacts with Leandra once she moves in.

  vid evidence?

I was hoping for a scene where Leandra gets concerned about FemHawke romancing merrill

I doubt anyone has taken the time to frap that little event, it is a little note at the end of a sentence. She literally says "I see how you and that elf look at each other", and then moves on to her remarrying.

Completely agree. A "moving in" scene and dialogue with all the house residents at the beginning of Act 3 would be nice.

Anyone else notice how, other than your party members, people seem to dismiss Merrill quite readily? Your mother mentions how you and "that elf" have been looking at each other, and Bodahn refers to her as your mistress. I mean, you're quite intricately tied to this woman now, and you've invited her to move in; Other than the people who really know you (companions & siblings), everybody seems pretty prejudiced about her. I doubt they would care so little if she was human; Isabela is a terrible example in this case, though.

After you do Night Terrors, if you save him, he says he has to leave the Dalish, because they can't help him any more. So, he goes to Tevinter.

I agree with this.  This is why I prefer the rival path.  I don't relate to the people who think she is an ideal flawless person.  The fact that she is a girl with a good heart but genuine flaws is what I find so appealing about her as a character.

Whoa, who has ever said that she is an ideal flawless person?

My friendmance with her was such that I was not going to impose my views on her. If she really felt that the mirror was something important to her, I would support her and if she got into a pickle, I'd be the first to jump into the Fade and kick pride demon rump for her. I <3 her that much... :-P I think she would finally learn the error of her ways when Hawke saved her bacon.

The blood magic - didn't really care one way or the other. It is like guns - it is the user who uses the tool inappropriately. Most NPCs who wield blood magic in the game do it because they are weak, want more power than they deserve and/or are capable of handling and are easily corruptible. Hence all the abomoniations everywhere. Merrill is focused and doesn't want the blood magic for power and domination. She wants it to help others, even though it doesn't work out that way ultimately.
