I wish I had a knack for that back in college! I did enjoy the your explainations of the logic behind the comments. <where is the popcorn eating smiley face?>

I know, kinda off topic, but it isn't too often you get some IQ-raising discussion on a fan thread. :P

I agree with this.  This is why I prefer the rival path.  I don't relate to the people who think she is an ideal flawless person.  The fact that she is a girl with a good heart but genuine flaws is what I find so appealing about her as a character.

Of course she's a good person with genuine flaws. But thinking that the mirror/blood magic are not flaws is not the same as thinking she's an ideal flawless person.

I prefer the friendship paths because I (and most of my characters) think she's right.

Sums it up. Personally, (though you could say this about any flaw, as everybody has them and to judge is to be a hypcrite) I don't mind any of Merrill's "flaws". Even when she angrily spits out the word "Shemlen!" at Hawke, I can't help but like her Posted Image

Err... Yeah, I like her old hair better.

Don't like Mohawks?

You know, it does look close to the original concept art.

Meh. Her eye/forehead tattoos fit in much better with her real hair, and the Mohawk makes her ears stick out. And, generally, it doesn't fit any aspect of her character I can think of?

Still, it's interesting.

Yeah I think Merrill should have a haircut that doesn't point out that in real life only really hardcore girls have facial tattoos.

To be fair, Merrill's facial tatts don't really say "Hardcore" to me Posted Image

I don't endorse it but a Merr-Hawke.

Edit: No wait I endorse the Merr-Hawke as a couple portmanteau but not as a haircut.

I think KittyHawke is a better Merrill/Hawke couple portmanteau :police:

Let's see as Maria Caliban posited earlier the Dalish are probably on a high protein low meat and grain diet of nuts and wild vegetables appropriate of a hunter gatherer society. (The Dalish are technically pastoral but since they don't eat Halla they have a hunter gatherer diet.) I'd imagine Merrill only ate a sparse amount of seasonal fruit and has either a craving to sweetness or an aversion to it. Also I wouldn't find it weird if by habit Merrill was a vegetarian. That piece of mutton in her home is her thinking "I guess since I'm her I'll start eating meat." (Oh I walked right into that one didn't I) But her body wasn't used to the higher fat of farmed meat and she spent the entire next day mildly ill.

No, seriously... I feel like Merrill, missing all the dirty comments. What pastry?

[EDIT] It almost certainly can't be worse than what I was thinking when I first didn't comment.

[Anyone else notice how, other than your party members, people seem to dismiss Merrill quite readily? Your mother mentions how you and "that elf" have been looking at each other, and Bodahn refers to her as your mistress. I mean, you're quite intricately tied to this woman now, and you've invited her to move in; Other than the people who really know you (companions & siblings), everybody seems pretty prejudiced about her. I doubt they would care so little if she was human; Isabela is a terrible example in this case, though.

Erm, he calls her "Mistress Merrill"--as in, the female equivalent to "master." He doesn't call her your mistress.

Oh. Well, I missed out by giving him to the demon!
