It seems that Merrill swinging was inspired by Hawke asking himself who was swinging on the chendalier
(or something), only to say "Merrill" afterwards. Though earlier on Sandal's the scapegoat...
Don't you think it bears some resemblance to the troll face?
And Aveline in the pic... Only one response for that:
Y SO SERIOUS?

Before I shrunk it down by 25% for web use though, her face looked like this full-size:

No worries. I can see where you're coming from if you just look at the web size without zooming. And I'm very amused by it. Fits into the goofiness of the comic anyway. [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/grin.png[/smilie]Whacka wrote...

I was really disappointed that there was never any talk from Mama Hawke or Bodahn about the chandelier swinging.

Okay, 4th playthrough out of 4 where i romance Merrill (How can anyone not? O.o)
This time around i thought i would not give her the Arulin'holm to fix the mirror.
From spoilers and so i thought that not giving her that would drop her to max rivalry, i have seen pictures and videos show a 125+ drop to full rivalry from friendship.
People say this is intentional.
I thought i would just befriend Merrill then as i always do, i always almost max her out by the end of act 1, she's so easy if you are just good to mages.
But when i did her Act 2 quest this time and refused to give it to her i didn't gat the rivalry drop, she's still at full friendship (Which she became right adter returning from The Deep Roads)
Her scene at her home played, she was angry as should be however she did not say "I wll never see you again" she just said "I would like to be alone," still no drop at all.
I just wanted to clarify that this is not a bug that will mess anything up.
I just didn't think you could go that way and keep full friendship.
Thanks

I wish Bioware had of not left the gaps between romances so long and laboured. The first few romantic dialogue options I used on Merrill were responded sometimes with her continuing to talk about another topic. I felt like I got blocked by Aveline in an elf outfit
But I do love Merrill, her voice, her clumsyness and the romance with her. I think it would of been interesting to actually see that mirror be used before Hawkes eyes or to have a moment where Merrill had to choose between it or Hawke.

That's not a bug. Once you have someone at maxed friendship/rivalry, they're locked in and you won't get any more standing changes.

When you max out friendship, you'll get an "approval lock" of sorts. That means that once maxed, it either cannot drop (friendship) or cannot increase (rivalry).Knight of Dane wrote...

Why would merrill care if hawke was talking to isabela? She goes there to talk to her to. The only conflict the Rivalry has is in regards to blood magic and the mirror. Isabela has no part in that. Just because a couple has a disagreement doesn't mean they should automatically expect the other to be cheating...

it doesn't even have to be cheating, could also be merrill beating herself up because she and Hawke aren't spending as much time together as they "used to".
Just saying

To keep this on the Merrill track. I wrote ~1,700 words of a Merrill fic last night. It needs editing but I'm tired.

I supported Merrill as a blood mage. She's said to be the best blood mage in the game by a number of people. I liked her as a blood mage. I always figured that she teaches Hawke how to command blood magic and that he helps her build the Eluvian over the years.

Yeah, b/c Merrill totally bleeds to death in game ....
It's not like she successfullly uses blood magic for 7 years without harming herself or unleashing demons on the Alieneage.
The game is hardly real life....
Am I the only one that supports Merrill in her blood magey ways? I can't be....
Do you like Bloodmagic because you think it's a power that has good uses for society?
Or did you pick it because "BOOM! WOW, look at those damn merc! They're dead! Wow! Cool hit damage! Pro dark powers, whatever they maybe! Just like in KOTOR!"
