still it would make for great conversation don't you think?

plus most people think homosexuality is odd in thedas, and you would thtink something like the champion being a homosexual would be worth pointing out.

No, my point is that people don't find homosexuality odd in Thedas. I've seen no reason to believe otherwise anyway.

hint dragonage wiki:
"Same-sex relations are generally considered odd but not immoral in Ferelden. Orlesians regard homosexuality as a mere quirk of character, and the Antivan Crows show a winking tolerance for (if not encouragement of) relations with multiple partners of either sex. There is pressure in certain circles, such as the City Elves and the human nobility, to marry an opposite-gendered partner, but this is motivated by pragmatism rather than morality; a homosexual couple cannot have biological children. For a dying race like the elves, it is vital that every fertile individual produce offspring."

we dont really knnow what the rest of thedas thinks about same-sex romantic relationships, but it is safe to assume that it is considered odd, yet commonly accepted everywhere except in noble circles and elven alienages.

I wouldn't say it's not accepted in noble circles though or Elven communities. It's pressured certainly, to marry opposite gender, but not forced. Just not what they'd prefer basically.

Ah yes, "the prize".

I have dismissed that claim. It was a heavy risk.

...BUT THE PRIIIZE...

BUT THE PRIIIZE

Slow internet is raising my blood pressure to unspeakable heights. And I'm just one step away from total destruction of my internet modem if it keeps *****ing like that.

To be honest, I don't even see where it's considered "odd" or in any way unusual, at least in-game. Whether it was Fergus's winking encouragement when my female noble had a date with Iona, to Wynne being concerned with matters of Grey Warden romance rather than f/f romance, to Leandra admitting that seeing Lady Hawke and Merrill in love has inspired her to date again, s/s relations seem to be universally treated as any other. If anyone can think of an instance of a character being shocked or uncomfortable with homosexuality in DA or DA2, let me know. But I honestly can't think of a single example.

In Dragon Age lore, horses are odd, dwarves studying at the Circle are odd, but same-sex attraction...not really.

Should also point out that Nobles would only care if said same sex relationship was a part of their family. Reason being, the want to continue the family blood line. If another sibling is having kids, they probably wouldn't care as much. But if their only kid wouldn't have children? That means the loss of the house/blood line. I'm sure the Dwarves are even more forced into Tradition as Nobles than even the humans are.

No one seemed to care that my female noble had a female elf in her room. Even mentioned to mother how she died in my room. But we hadn't run into little dead Orin yet.

that was just what the wiki said, could be people just don't think too much about it and dont care one way or another. or that bioware did not decide to put reactions in there.

its lore about the ideal to be honest

Gaider himself said that it wasnt considered a big deal to the people of Thedas.

I can just imagine how awkward it would be for Hawke to have to try and wiggle out of all the people throwing their sons/daughters at him/her in this case.

I remember some lady in the Chantry asks if the champion has a wife. (If Hawke is male)

Well that is the thing.

Is Hawke open about him living in with his Dalish lover?
Does he/she try to cover it up?

How does Hawke deal with such a social taboo.

It says something when a pirate lady is the most acceptable romance option to society really.

I dont think he/she tries to cover it up. The codex says that all your neighbors know and send angry letters to Hawke, but nothing comes of it.

just wondering, does hawke take merrill to the fancy parties that happen after the qunari incident or leave her behind to keep the templars off her?

you know, should hawke choose to romance her.

I would like to think that my Hawke would happily take Merrill to the fancy parties, and, if necessary,  would take a page from the Bruce Wayne playbook.  If Merrill felt like frolicking in the gardens and making a scene, Hawke would simply buy the estate and go frolic barefoot among the flowers with her.

It's good to be the Champion.

could mean that they do not that they don't think its odd or anything, just that they dont consider it a problem.

Keep in mind, the codex states that the neighbors are irritated Hawke is dating and living with a Dalish elf.  It's not an issue about the fact Merrill is a woman, but rather pure classism and racism.

Or perhaps the neighbors are just nervous that Hawke keeps spying their own daliances through that curtain-less window.  =)

now that i think about it merrill being an elf would take precedence over her being a woman/romancing a female hawke

Are the angry letters because she's Dalish? I thought it was because she kept picking flowers from their gardens.

*goes to check*

I do recall the thing with the flowers being a particular point of contention with the neighborhood committee in High Town. =) But I think the major scandal was specifically concerning Merrill being an elf.

Why would Hawke cover it up? What have all those Hightown nobles ever done for him, aside from calling him/her a filthy dog during Act 1? Merrill's presence pissing off the nobles is a great bonus, in my books.

Merrill's the loveliest prank you will ever need. I wish she brought her horde of adopted rats with her from the Alienage.

Hawke even says herself...something along the lines of/very roughly: "Shall we scandalize the neighbours by having my Dalish lover move in"? when you pick the "Move in with me" line...

As i wrote earlier, but this only occurs with a "snarky" personality.

Does it matter? The effect and thought processes by others are the same.
