Which class do you guys think works better for a Merrillmance? Warrior or mage?
That's what I was expecting... I just love playing mages so much
But my dedication to the story is unshakable. I suffered through a bugged Anders-mance, I can play a warrior again.
Has there been any updates on the patches release date yet?
It defaults to romance. If none, then the companion with the highest friendship/rivalry.Maria Caliban wrote...

I've only heard about friendship, which kind of makes sense. Non-romance rivalry wouldn't have you very friendly in public.

Yes. Yes they do. It's fun.
I see Merrill as being isolated from the daily life of her clan. Given that an apostate Hawke would have to live in secrecy, always hiding herself, and spend time studying the arcane arts as well as learning the self-discipline or willpower needed to resist demons, she could easily relate to Merrill and find a number of similarities between them.
Which is not good in my eyes.
Merrill doesn't need someone who relates to being isolated but someone who's used to being knee-deep in the muck of normal life. Warrior Hawke is never tempted by blood magic, doesn't spend her nights pouring over arcane secrets, and doesn't worry about demons brainjacking her.
Yeah... I can't help but feel that warrior!Hawke's opinion is worthier than mage!Hawke's... somone who does have to deal with demons mindjacking her might be projecting some of her own wishful thinking onto Merrill when she says that Merrill's actually not evil and stupid. Warrior!Hawke is more objective.
At the same time, warrior!Hawke can't really understand in the same way that mage!Hawke can. Sure, she can say blood magic is fine, she never has to deal with any of the consequences.
I imagine I'll have a stronger idea in my head once I've played my mage more.
Edit: Thank you again with your help on Awaken. I will probably do 1e4 first and then talk to you about the changes. I found what you said very helpful.
I'm glad [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/smile.png[/smilie] Helpful is one of my favorite things to be.

I play mage. I only went warrior for DAII because I didn't want Bethany to die :innocent:
What bug are you talking about?

The guide says highest friendship...though I assume rivalry also applies since it's possible to have all the companions in full rivalry status as well...

What's that got to do with playing a warrior?
Am I missing something obvious?

No no, I was just wondering if they released info on an approximate date for its release. It was just a general question for anyone that might keep up with the news on the forums.ishmaeltheforsaken wrote...

Ish, I think I agree with Maria. I would like to add that, to me, the gameplay of a warrior adds to the experience of a Merrillmance. I mentioned this earlier in the thread, but my primary Hawke is a 2h vanguard berserker. Whenever Merrill is under siege, she irrationally rushes whoever is hurting her. She taps into all her Berserker talents and spams all her offense abilities with little strategy. If all else fails she tries to tank the sh** out of everyone; risking severe injury since she isn't built like a tank.ishmaeltheforsaken wrote...

I mean, the whole Leandra business was bad enough, but if they'd taken Merrill, well. Let's just they wish they'd corrupted the Golden City instead.

I'm fairly certain I reviewed your fic, and am now seeing that you are on the forums. I suppose this shouldn't be a big surprise, but I am extremely lazy and lack many observation skills. This intrigues me.
