Merrill - She's a Keeper!

I would really love to see what an uncorrupted old god looks like.
I have lots of odd ponderings about the dragons and things that don't quite make sense. Drakescale, dragonbone, and dragonscale armor make sense, but where does the dragonskin come from? Where do dragons have skin? They have scales, except perhaps around the eyes and other, err, sensitive places. . . . yeah, I think I just now realized the scary implications of that.

See? This is why Merrill and her thread are the best character and thread. The closest to that that's been posted is at least artsilly done, and doesn't come off as, ah.... Naughty.
I am not sure what weird librarian thing you're referring to. I can see her as pre-modern librarian type as she's scholarly. Is that what you mean?Emperor Iaius I wrote...
It's also just weird how she's shyly looking away at one point, and then hungrily kissing Hawke the next. I expected her to be more demure, but then it's entirely possible she has that weird librarian thing going on. I always found that archetype to be creepy, though.
The kiss felt right to me. I consider Merrill a slow burn and the game seems to support this given that she'll express interest in Hawke indirectly in Act 1 but apparently doesn't express it directly until much later.
Then again, I see Merrill as being all sorts of passionate. She's probably been thinking about/wanting that kiss for a long time before she's able to gather her courage and talk to Hawke.

Merrill does have fuzzy eyebrows. I believe she's the only woman in the game with that trait. They are thin, though.

Neither Garrett nor Marian are perfect! Just look at those large, red, stylish birthmarks across their noses!
Edit: Two people have fallen prey to my wording mistake, so I think I'll fix it. I had meant to say I don't mind pencil thin eyebrows, not that Merrill had them; They're thin, but it goes along nicely with the rest of her lithe form. Sorry about that

Heh! Not really a fetish, as it's not a "turn on" to me. Just something I think makes character creation more fun and interesting to play with.DoNotIngest wrote...
Flaw fetish, eh?I see where you're coming from. I enjoy giving my characters at least one nearly caricaturely stand-out feature; My huge-nosed, squinty-eyed, huge-eyebrowed blackbeard dwarf tank in DAO was very fun. I don't however think of them as flaws, as much as I just have a fondness for my funny-looking compadrés.
There's a fine line between little flaws and over-the-top, though. I don't tend to like excessively broody characters, for instance. I do like Fenris, but not because he's "mysterious" or his brooding is attractive. I like him because he's such an unbelieveable ass that it's hilarious. Plus, he's so super serious that I find it makes him an easy target for laughs. So... I like him as the butt of jokes, I guess would be more appropriate to say.
S'ok. I agree with you on that. While perhaps a tad short, it's a very, very minor nitpick on my part and I really do think they suit her. I just don't have as much fun drawing them as I do drawing eyebrows on people like my male Hawkes or Fenris. xDDoNotIngest wrote...

The stereotype of shy librarians who are secret nymphos. It's tedious.
She could be passionate and probably has been thinking about it for a while, but I'd think she'd still be awkward/tentative about it all instead of making out right away.

Wade's Dragonskin armor comes only from the High Dragon--so I can't imagine that she has a soft underbelly. From what I remember about reptiles (though I could be wrong), they do still have scales there.

That's why her style always seemed familiar to me! Huh! It's true, she does draw a lot like that movie looks. She's done a ton of DA fan art, but I wouldn't count on too much DA2 stuff from her. Merrill's the only thing she liked about the game.

Thought I'd chime in on this... I think Merrill is in front of a sort of wall of inhibition and uncertainty... but once Hawke affirms her affection, that wall comes crashing down pretty quickly. Merrill's all tentative up until the point Hawke says there's no reason to be, and then she's all free with her affections. It's really sweet, I think.
[EDIT] @Dalish: yes, default Bethany. All my previous playthroughs have had default siblings. My current one isn't, but it's a mage. So, I'm not familiar with the other Bethanies. But default Bethany has the cutest catterpillar eyebrows.

If I was judging it (Great, now I'm judging it...), I'd have to say she looks a little too... Little-girlish, for my taste. I can still enjoy the art and appreciate the work that went into it, but if I was asked for constructive criticism, I'd have some

I liked the kiss more than the actual sex scene. I don't think Merrill would have taken it that far, though I can see some kissing and cuddling in that one visit. I'm dreading having to write about it, as I'll have to come up with something more.... Merrill-y, than the game's version. And I'm not Merrill.
And how dare you call her a librarian!
