And everybody knows that purple clothing = yellow scarf. Derp.

Then she'd look like Wario.

You'd need a lot more than a colour change to make Merrill look like him. Is that his nose, or a kidney?

I think I'll throw my support behind Male Hawke. As others have said, he doesn't seem to show up as much in fan art. Not sure on class, though. I could go either way.

Nice. Way to go turning it into a popularity contest.

For the record, my comment was made in jest. I have a preference, but I'm not really going to go to lengths to screw other people out of theirs :P

My preference is Lady Hawke. My vote is Dude Hawke.

I don't see any difference in you asking Iaius to vote Lady Hawke and me asking him to vote Dude Hawke. If one is "screwing" others then both are.

There isn't. That's what I was saying. I think. I don't really know, actually. But it was all just a joke.

:(  Now I feel bad for brining a semblance of conflict to the board...

so far it is tied as 9 for both genders,Lady Hawke in the lead by 1, with mage winning out for class (by little)

I guess it would be possible for me to draw both in their own drawing, or maybe make some androgynous Hawke or  a half/half down the middle, im always willing to compromise :D

*edit*
The reason I didnt ask for rogue is because it's my least favorite Champion armor set, that's pretty much the only reason heh... although I will admit, the bird skull buttons on it are sweet.

I'm actually trying out a rogue Hawke now, after what you and Maria were saying about Merrill and a non-mage Hawke earlier in the thread. It got me interested in immersing myself in the romance from a different perspective. Latino/Antivan Rogue Hawke. I've gone through DA2 as an apostate, and although I really like being a mage, the disconnect being being an illegal mage and how it's not addressed in the story is jarring for me. Merrill makes up for it, though. "If you were Dalish, our people would have a kingdom by now... and half of Thedas would be attacking us, so maybe things worked out for the best." Posted Image

I wonder whether the perspective on Merrill would change for the Dalish if Hawke sides with the mages, since the Dalish aren't fans of the Chantry or its templars...

She's kind of agreeable with helping mages in general. She doesn't give a rat's ass about helping the Circle at the end. She only sees them as mages.

Edited for kind more clarifcation.

I kind of see it as she doesn't consider it her fight. But she'll follow hawke to help the innocent mages. She doesn't dislike blood magic. But hates those that use it on others. So she basically is already with killing blood mages as long as you don't kill non blood mages. She'll do anything for hawke if she loves them though. For the most part.

Thea looked at Bethany behind her then back at Cullen, “Then tell me what you want, I’m listening – for now.” She sheathed her sword behind her back and crossed her arms.

His name is Jowan and he was very close to your cousin, Thea Amell, before she joined the Grey Wardens.” Cullen took off the amulet and looked at it. “He is actually the reason why she became a warden, he was trying to flee the Circle tower with a… Acquaintance of his…”
“But…?” Thea replied.

The Warden and the Champion have the same first name?

You need white space between paragraphs online. A single line break will make your dialogue difficult to read because unlike print, there is no indentation for a new line. The only exception to this might be short bits of dialogue.

"Where are we going?" she asked.
"How should I know?"
"You're the one steering!"
"I'm an excellent pilot," he replied, "but I never claimed to be a navigator."

Thank you.

I will read it through a couple more times when i have completed it, i fear the chapter is becoming too long though.
The warden and the champion have the same name yes, my plan i that they have been named after the same ancestor.
They also share looks quite a bit i had Bethany descripe the warden to Hawke in chapter four.

I think you misread what I said. I was talking about how the Dalish clans might view Merrill if she stood with Hawke against the templars because of their bad blood (according to the codex explaining the fall of the Dales, Ariane in Witch Hunt, ect.) and whether their opinion of her might change. We already know Hawke's "legend" isn't close to the truth (based on how Cassandra responds to different points of Varric's tale) and I wonder if Merrill might get wrapped up in her own "myth" by the other Dalish clans.

The incident at Kirkwall seems important enough because, as Leliana says, people around the world are watching Kirkwall. I wonder if a Dalish mage taking on the templars would have any ramifications for the Dalish, or whether she might have her own "legend" among the clans (especially given how the Dalish boon seems to have gone badly - King Alistair says as much to Merrill when she asks him about the Hinterlands).

I doubt the Dalish care about the Circle at all. It's no concern to them what the Shemlen do with their Mages. The Dalish seem to just worry about themselves. Stressing about what doesn't concern them would make so sense. They'd only care about how the Halla are fairing and if the Hunters are finding enough meals for the Clan.

Edit for more.

Don't even try to imagine what they'd think of her. Once it's known that the Keeper sacrificed herself to keep the First alive and left the clan with neither. That she also left the clan before it all happened. Thinking they'd have sympathy for Merrill when Dalish in general think about the Clan first? They'd more likely hate her than love her.
